There are great questions that every human being that has ever walked this earth has pondered at sometime during their life, that we all must answer in someway.

What am I? Am I just this physical body? Do I just have to come here grow up, get into the rat race, struggle to get ahead, to have a two car garage, and white picket fence; approved by everybody?

Why go through that, when it's all over before we know it?

Where did I come from? What religions on the face of the earth today have any answer to that question?

What shall I do while I am here? I'm bombarded from all sides from moralistic advice and judgments, from every conceivable person; there are 20,000 versions of Christianity on the face of the earth today; just to take Christianity alone. The advice is not consistent, and confusing; what should I do?

Where am I going?

What do you love about yourself that is in service to the awakening of humanity?

What is being evoked from you at this time in history, in service to our collective?

What is your deepest longing and sacred calling?

How does your energy want to show up and play as new systems, ideas and ways of being are manifesting on our planet in its crucial birthing process into the new?

What will the world be like with unconditional love?

My Birthday Wish

I took this day, and at times found myself drifting back, having my mind flooded with memories....the only thing that would bring me back to reality was the sound of my laughter.

I've always believed that if you said your birthday wish out loud, it would not come true...these days I try not to believe in any "thing".

So I'm going to ry sosmething different, and I'm going to say it out loud this time, and I trust that if it's meant to be; it will be.

..my birthday wish is for my family, that we come together, and not let our beliefs cause any more separation.

We can't change anything is the past, but we can create a moment now.

In particular, I wish that my mother would forgive me for my shortfallings. I have been able to let go of everything I was holding on to, and find myself truly at peace. I trust that we can have a solid, loving relationship.

I wish that my big brother, would stand up and be that big brother, it's never too late. There have been so many times, that I wished I had a big brother, especially where I live now.

I wish to get to know my brother Daniel, and his family.

....and Larry Angelo?....what's up?.... I always thought we had a tight connection.

I wish to reconnect with my sister Rebecca, and of course Witamar, I love him like a brother.

...and I'd like to send a special request to big Larry, that you understand that I hold no resentment toward you at all. I have been able to let my past go, and I don't feel the need to bring anything up. I want you to know that I appreciated out time together, and I feel that I learned alot from you, and trust that you were in my life for a reason. Shit happens, I've experienced it ;-)

It can be real easy, as clicking our heels three times...and saying out loud...Let bygones be bygones

That's my birthday wish. Everyone that wished me a happy bday, take my thought, and help me create a new reality for my family and myself this 47th birthday of mine.

Obama Orders Assassination Of American Citizen

The U.S. Constitution is the law of the land.

Our nation's founding charter was intended to reflect our British common law heritage, the lessons of Greek democracy, and the principles of the Roman Republic. It also contained historic protections of citizens dating back to the Magna Carta.

The Founders were keen on making sure the federal government's powers were limited and few, and given their experience with King George III, they made a particular point to restrain the power of the executive branch. Unlike other countries at the time, in the United States the head of state would not be above the law. For many observers at the time, our Constitution was a crowning achievement of the West. It was the grand culmination of philosophies on governance spanning centuries and an affirmation of proper civilization.

President Barack Obama hasn't seemed too bothered by constitutional restraint.

To be fair, neither have most of his modern predecessors, who have steadily expanded executive power far beyond its constitutional bounds. President George W. Bush was considered by the Left to be one of the worst enemies of civil liberties, as legislation such as the Patriot Act, policies such as indefinite detention, and legal redefinitions of torture were considered unprecedented new lows. Yet despite promising "change," Obama has maintained most of Bush's anti-civil liberties policies, even expanding them in some cases.

Now, Obama has lowered the bar even further.

When American-born Al-Qaeda collaborator Anwar al-Awlaki was assassinated by a U.S. drone strike in Yemen last week, The New York Times noted,

"It is extremely rare, if not unprecedented, for an American to be approved for targeted killing."

There is little question that al-Awlaki was as evil as most reports indicated. He inspired radical jihadists to take up arms against the United States. There is also little question that fighting radical Islamists represents a war unlike any other in our history, but the problem with killing al-Awlaki is the precedent it sets. If President Obama's overall domestic and foreign policies weren't already bad enough, he has now taken the United States to a new low by undermining the most basic precept of American law: the protection of a citizen's rights through due process.

In a 2004 Supreme Court case in which a father sought constitutional protections for his American-citizen son who had been imprisoned as an enemy combatant without charge or trial, conservative Justice Antonin Scalia gave the following opinion:

"Where the government accuses a citizen of waging war against it, our constitutional tradition has been to prosecute him in federal court for treason or some other crime."

Obviously, Scalia believes our Constitution and legal traditions should have some bearing on such matters.

When the court decided the man must remain imprisoned, in his dissenting opinion Scalia quoted 18th century British judge Sir William Blackstone, widely considered to be an authority on English common law:

"The very core of liberty secured by our Anglo-Saxon system of separated powers has been freedom from indefinite imprisonment at the will of the executive. Blackstone stated this principle clearly: 'Of great importance to the public is the preservation of this personal liberty: for if once it were left in the power of any, the highest, magistrate to imprison arbitrarily whomever he or his officers thought proper ... there would soon be an end of all other rights and immunities ..."

Scalia further quoted Blackstone,

"To bereave a man of life ... without accusation or trial ... would be so gross and notorious an act of despotism, as must at once convey the alarm of tyranny throughout the whole kingdom."

We don't have to imagine what the Left would have thought of George W. Bush if he had ordered the assassination of al-Awlaki. But if Bush was rightly criticized for imprisoning citizens without due process, Obama is now applauded for killing one of them.

This issue is not about an obvious American traitor, but an American president's traitorous new policy.

As of this writing, Reuters is reporting that

"American militants like Anwar al-Awlaki are placed on a kill or capture list by a secretive panel of senior government officials, which then informs the president of its decisions, according to officials ... There is no public record of the operations or decisions of the panel ... Neither is there any law establishing its existence or setting out the rules by which it is supposed to operate."

The alarm of tyranny throughout the kingdom Blackstone spoke of, Scalia cited, and our Constitution was designed to prevent is now one step closer to reality. [source]

It isn't up to us to decide when a person is or is no longer a citizen.

Obtaining Naturalization in a Foreign State

Section 349 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1481), as amended, states that U.S. citizens are subject to loss of citizenship if they perform certain specified acts voluntarily and with the intention to relinquish U.S. citizenship.

Briefly stated, these acts include:

(Sec. 349 (a) (1) INA); taking an oath, affirmation or other formal declaration to a foreign state or its political subdivisions (Sec. 349 (a) (2) INA); entering or serving in the armed forces of a foreign state engaged in hostilities against the U.S. or serving as a commissioned or non-commissioned officer in the armed forces of a foreign state (Sec. 349 (a) (3) INA); accepting employment with a foreign government if (a) one has the nationality of that foreign state or (b) an oath or declaration of allegiance is required in accepting the position (Sec. 349 (a) (4) INA); formally renouncing U.S. citizenship before a U.S. diplomatic or consular officer outside the United States (Sec. 349 (a) (5) INA); formally renouncing U.S. citizenship within the U.S. (but only under strict, narrow statutory conditions) (Sec. 349 (a) (6) INA); conviction for an act of treason (Sec. 349 (a) (7) INA).

Does al-Awlaki retain citizenship status after taking up arms against the United States?

A good test would be whether his children are eligible for SSI survivor's benefits. (I'm guessing they're not eligible)

It would have been nice to have had a formal declaration from the state department indicating that the American born terrorist's citizenship status had been revoked for acts of sedition and treason.

Maybe that was done and not publicized.

Should rebel soldiers from the confederate south should been given "due process" for crimes committed against the United States?

One could make the argument that the demonstrators occupying Wall Street are guilty of sedition and treason - they are openly calling for overthrowing the United States government in particular, and capitalism in general.

Should they be targeted for a drone strike?

How is it that the empty suit in the White House can get away with dissing Bush's policies (Gitmo, rendition, drone strikes, endless war) during the campaign, yet he's lauded for continuing and expanding the same policies as President?

Answer: The intellectually and morally bankrupt left are hypocrites. The useful idiots in the streets are being manipulated by the very people who will ultimately enslave them.

These groups are made up of young people who want their college loans forgiven, among other demands.

Why aren't they protesting on their campuses about college presidents, professors, administrators, and head ball coaches making big money on the backs of students via inflated tuition rates?

Because they're hypocrites.

Why aren't they protesting against the democrat politicians who federalized the student loan program, depriving local communities and banks the opportunity to decide who is worthy of assistance?

Because they're hypocrites.

Why aren't they protesting against Apple, one of the largest, richest corporations in America - a company that has many of its products made in China, depriving Americans of manufacturing jobs?

Because they're hypocrites.

The only real issue with this case is that Al Qaeda is not a foreign state, but a terrorist organization. Yes, he was a dirtbag, and yes, he surely would have been convicted of treason, but until then he is a citizen, and this has the possibility of making it easier for government to start killing more of its citizens it only suspects of terrorism.

Ignorance and hypocrisy go hand in hand. The "occupy" protesters are a fine testament to the abject failure of our educational system.

We shall soon reap what we, as a society, have sown.

Who is responsible for war? Is it the soldiers? I suppose you can’t just point your finger at them. Although- they were there, afterall.

Maybe it’s the Generals, since they make a career out of telling these guys what to do. Or just maybe that doesn’t go far enough.

Who tells the Generals what to do?

Anonymous Demands SOPA - PIPA

The Internet is angry at SOPA and Anonymous is at, or at least near, the front of it all.

On Wednesday, the "official" Anonymous twitter feed linked to the group's list of demands. The document is titled, "Bright, and Clear: The Future of Free Speech." In it, the group details their list of demands for the future of the Internet that they believe SOPA and PIPA want to dismantle.

As we watch the web go dark today in protest against the SOPA/PIPA censorship bills, let's take a moment and reflect on why this fight is so important. We may have learned that free speech is what makes America great, or instinctively resist attempts at silencing our voices. But these are abstract principles, divorced from the real world and our daily lives.

We believe a healthy society doesn't allow its artists, musicians and other creators to starve. The copyright industry has been justly criticized for abusing the political process in a desperate attempt to maintain its role as a cultural gatekeeper, a business model made obsolete by a digital age of free copies. But the RIAA, MPAA & IFPI deserve our opprobrium for making enormous profits while often leaving the very artists it claims to represent *poorer* than they would be as independents. While the public may have greater access to the few artists deemed sufficiently marketable to gain mass media promotion, fewer and fewer of us are making art and music in our own lives.

Do you agree with Anonymous' claim of a digital age of free copies? Are the MPAA and RIAA's business models outdated? Let us know in the comments.

From there, the group lists their demands starting with the call for the WIPO to be disbanded. They also demand the elimination of the DMCA's registration requirement for qualification under the "safe harbor" provision.

They move onto more court-related topics with their expectation that courts apply penalties just as severe to rightsholders who issue abusive takedown notices as those applied to copyright violators. They also demand that any penalties for copyright infringement must be sane and reasonable and not to be based on "unsubstantiated, outlandish claims of harm."

They demand that the Department of Justice begin an anti-trust investigation into the copyright industry, with a specific focus on collusion between rightsholders and ISPs in monitoring Internet users.

They demand an end to sales of radio frequencies into private hands. They believe that the radio waves are a form of speech and should belong to the people.

A big one that most would not agree with is their demand that ISPs stop interfering with file sharing via BitTorrent or any other protocol.

They want recognition of total ownership, not merely licensing, of products purchased. They feel that they have a right to tinker and modify devices as they see fit. The Library of Congress should not be in charge of determining acceptable use.

They reject the principle of contributory infringement under the pretense that "while there may be bad uses, there is no bad code."

One that I think everybody can get behind is their expectation that legislators and judges make efforts to educate themselves about the technologies they oversee, and to call on and respect the opinions of technical experts when necessary.

All research receiving any public funding must be placed in the public domain upon publication. Likewise, the US Patent and Trade Office must immediately cease issuing software and business patents, and declare all such existing patents null and void. They also call on the rejection of any patents on mathematical formulas and genes or other naturally-occurring substances.

They demand that copyright and patent terms be reduced to reasonable lengths (two and five years from the time of creation, respectively). Works should only be eligible for the length of protection when created.

They recognize a broad right of "fair use" that would allow anybody to remix, sample, mash up, translate, perform or make parodies of any work as they see fit.

Their final demand is that courts give bloggers the same freedoms that journalists enjoy.

"The right to a free press originally meant a literal, physical printing press - not membership in some government sanctioned elite. Blogs are the modern day digital equivalent."

They end their list of demands with a final call to action to their fellow "Internauts." They end their message with "either stand with us or get out of the way."

Anonymous is not new to protesting human rights violations or making demands of certain groups that they don't agree with. This is the first time, however, that they have laid out reasonable (to some people) changes to Federal and International law that most people could get behind. It's fascinating to see a group that only a few years ago was attacking Web sites for the "lulz" has transformed into an activist group that more people can support.

It's important to remember, however, that this only represents a portion of Anonymous. As these movements grow, there will be counter Anonymous movements that will want to respond to threats like SOPA and PIPA with more targeted, direct physical action like Operation Blackout.

A Bumpy Ride

The changing of times is nigh.

It’s 2012, and the changing of ages is underway. The worldview of the masses has been shaken and rearranged. No one has been left out. Many of you have been awakened and have started your own journey for truth.

As we all ascend into a new Golden Age, we must focus our attention on the Divinity within ourselves by becoming aware of the divine equality of all life. We must understand that all Life is created equal in magnificence.

Are there other realities we aren't aware of?

Today scientists are seriously talking about things such as multi-dimensions, parallel universes, and multi-verses, which were considered nothing more than extreme theories not too long ago.

Is it possible that advanced extraterrestrials, who have learned how to live in harmony with the material world, are the same kinds of beings we are evolving into? And is this advanced place of existence in a higher dimension?

We currently live in a 3-dimensional, physical reality. Each dimension has many layers of vibration. The highest layer of vibration in the 3rd dimension brushes up against the lowest level of the 4th dimension.

Many of us have begun our ascension into the lowest level of the 4th dimension. As we evolve into these higher levels of energy and vibration, our consciousness begins to expand, and we begin a new way of life where we have a greater awareness of Spirit and the concept of Oneness among all things.

The physical universe in which we currently exist, is full of wonders and mysteries that we haven’t even began to question. We have over 10 billion years to question.

I’ve started questioning if somehow, messengers like, Jesus, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, could have been from higher dimensions, and were able to "drop" into a lower dimension. These enigmas, which is what they are; originated from somewhere.

There has been a wave of spiritual and metaphysical wisdom spreading over this planet for all who are ready to respond to its calling.

There is a shift happening, and many of us are moving into the 4th dimensional reality.

The Earth itself, is ascending into a region in space where the vibrational energy is increasing dramatically. With this elevation in cosmic energy, humans are being affected.

Many of us have accepted this divine invitation and will take advantage of this new energy. It's pretty amazing to be witness to the awakening of masses around the world.

You can see this with the Occupy Movement. People all over the world have been fueled by anger at the growing disparities between rich and poor, frustrated by government policies that benefit a tiny elite at the expense of the majority, and tired of the establishment’s failure to address fundamental economic inequalities,

With a mass awakening a Revolution was born, and tens of thousands of everyday people are putting ideals like solidarity, mutual aid, anti-oppression, autonomy, and direct democracy into practice.

The rest is history.

Some of you acknowledge the changes in yourself, as you expand. Some of you may not recognize these changes.

Ascension brings about the expansion of the auric field, the chakras, the subtle bodies and the etheric body that surrounds the form. This ultimately translates down to a physical expansion that follows suit.

Shifting from the 3rd to the 4th dimension is like moving out of space "x" and moving into space "y," as if you are leaving one room and entering another.

Once you shift you leave your "old self" in the 3-dimensional space you formally occupied, and through a spiritual awakening, and with inner change, and personal transformation, the new "you" and your ever expanding consciousness, are ascending into a higher energy or reality... the 4th dimension.

It’s majestic when you become aware and can observe yourself shifting into a different space, while your body and your expanding awareness are still existing side by side with the old reality.

You become aware of both "spaces".

Now just because you have ascended into a higher dimension, doesn’t mean the lower dimension dissolves. You can still walk down the street, and sense the old paradigm. You may still interact with the people who exist there, but you definitely will notice that you no longer have an attachment, or association with that reality or energy.

I actually found myself feeling quite detached from it all. Especially my family. I just didn't feel like I was from this world. With this detachment, those who exist in the 3rd Dimension cannot sense, appreciate, understand, or relate to the new reality you have shifted into.

I imagine this is what Peter (Fringe) feels like since he is stuck in a parallel universe that isn't where he is from. It's as though two different belief systems exist side by side, each with its own vibration.

The rate of your vibrations is determined by the speed and degree of your spiritual awakening. Many other factors can also lend itself to the determination such as the food you eat, your service to humanity, the development of your mind-body-soul - I say, overall the most important would be the Love you bring to others.

All of these actions influence your consciousness, which in turn affect your awareness and focus, how you view and experience the world. The sum of all of these reactions affects your vibration in one way or another.

The faster you vibrate the faster your exit is from one dimension into another.

There isn’t going to be a spectacular light show when shifting to the 4th dimension, at least I didn‘t experience that. It‘s not like your going to disappear from this space and reappear in a different space. The shift is not physical, it’s spiritual, and means a change is one’s consciousness. The shift is a mass change or a shift in one’s state of mind.

For me, I experienced as overwhelming awareness of how I exoeruebced material vs. spiritual.

For me, I had to experience and feel the effects of this shift to a certain degree of detachment from those things that kept me anchored to the 3rd Dimension. It was a radical awakening that led me down a path in which I had to take a serious dissection of my life…..and from there I began the shifting process.

Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

A New Year Message for Humanity 2012

My message is simple.

My message is of a new man, homo novus. The old concept of man was of either/or; materialist or spiritualist, moral or immoral, sinner or saint. It was based on division, split.

It created a schizophrenic humanity.

The whole past of humanity has been sick, unhealthy, insane. In three thousand years, five thousand wars have been fought. This is just utterly mad; it is unbelievable.

It is stupid, unintelligent, inhuman.

Once you divide man in two, you create misery and hell for him. He can never be healthy and can never be whole, the other half that has been denied will go on taking revenge. It will go on finding ways and means to overcome the part that you have imposed upon yourself. You will become a battle-ground, a civil war.

That’s what has been the case in the past.

In the past we were not able to create real human beings, but humanoids. A humanoid is one who looks like a human being but is utterly crippled, paralyzed. He has not been allowed to bloom in his totality. He is half, and because he is half he is always in anguish and tension; he cannot celebrate.

The past has been very dark and dismal. It has been a dark night of the soul. And because it was repressive, it was bound to become aggressive. If something is repressed, man becomes aggressive, he loses all soft qualities. It was always so up to now. We have come to a point where the old has to be dropped and the new has to be heralded.

The new man will not be either/or; he will be both/and. The new man will be earthy and divine, worldly and other-worldly. The new man will accept his totality and he will live it without any inner division, he will not be split. His god will not be opposed to the devil, his morality will not be opposed to immorality; he will know no opposition. He will transcend duality, he will not be schizophrenic. With the new man there will come a new world, because the new man will perceive in a qualitatively different way and he will live a totally different life which has not been lived yet.

He will be a mystic, a poet, a scientist, all together.

He will not choose: he will be choicelessly himself.

That’s what I teach: homo novus, a new man, not a humanoid. The humanoid is not a natural phenomenon. The humanoid is created by the society — by the priest, the politician, the pedagogue. The humanoid is created, it is manufactured.

Each child comes as a human being: total, whole, alive, without any split.

Immediately the society starts suffocating him, stifling him, cutting him into fragments, telling him what to do and what not to do, what to be and what not to be. His wholeness is soon lost. He becomes guilty about his whole being. He denies much that is natural, and in that very denial he becomes uncreative. Now he will be only a fragment, and a fragment cannot dance, a fragment cannot sing, and a fragment is always suicidal because the fragment cannot know what life is. The humanoid cannot will on his own. Others have been willing for him — his parents, the teachers, the leaders, the priests; they have taken all his willing. They will, they order; he simply follows.

The humanoid is a slave.

I teach freedom. Now man has to destroy all kinds of bondages and he has to come out of all prisons — no more slavery. Man has to become individual. He has to become rebellious. And whenever a man has become rebellious…. Once in a while a few people have escaped from the tyranny of the past, but only once in a while — a Jesus here and there, a Buddha here and there. They are exceptions. And even these people, Buddha and Jesus, could not live totally.

They tried, but the whole society was against it.

My concept of the new man is that he will be Zorba the Greek and he will also be Gautam the Buddha: the new man will be Zorba the Buddha. He will be sensuous and spiritual, physical, utterly physical, in the body, in the senses, enjoying the body and all that the body makes possible, and still a great consciousness, a great witnessing will be there.

He will be Christ and Epicurus together.

The old man’s ideal was renunciation; the new man’s ideal will be rejoicing. And this new man is coming every day, he is arriving every day. People have not yet become aware of him. In fact he has already dawned. The old is dying, the old is on its death-bed. I don’t mourn for it and I say please don’t mourn for it. It is good that it dies, because out of its death the new will assert. The death of the old will be the beginning of the new.

The new can come only when the old has died utterly.

Help the old to die and help the new to be born! And remember, the old has all the respectability, the whole past will be in his support; and the new will be a very strange phenomenon. The new will be so new that he will not be respected. Every effort will be made to destroy the new. The new cannot be respectable, but with the new is the future of the whole of humanity.

The new has to be brought in.

My work consists in creating an energy-field, where the new can be born. I am only a midwife helping the new to come into a world which will not be accepting of it. The new will need much support from those who understand, from those who want some revolution to happen. And the time is ripe, it has never been so ripe. The time is right, it has never been so right. The new can assert itself, the break-through has become possible.

The old is so rotten that even with all support it cannot survive; it is doomed! We can delay, we can go on worshiping the old; that will be just delaying the process. The new has to come: at the most, we can help it to come sooner, or we can hinder it and delay its coming. It is good to help it.

If it comes sooner, humanity can still have a future, and a great future: a future of freedom, a future of love, a future of joy.

I teach a new religion. This religion will not be Christianity and will not be Judaism and will not be Hinduism. This religion will not have any adjective to it. This religion will be purely a religious quality of being whole.

It is a tremendous task, it is an almost impossible task, but because it is impossible it is going to seduce all those who have any soul left in them. It is going to create a great longing in all those people who have some adventure hidden in their beings, who are courageous, brave, because it is really going to create a brave new world.

I talk of Buddha, I talk of Christ, I talk of Krishna, I talk of Zarathustra, so that all that is best and all that is good in the past can be preserved. But these are only a few exceptions. The whole humanity has lived in great slavery, chained, split, insane.

I say my message is simple, but it will be very hard, difficult, to make it happen. But the harder, the more impossible, it is, the greater is the challenge. And the time is right because religion has failed. science has failed. The time is right because the East has failed, the West has failed. Something of a higher synthesis is needed in which East and West can have a meeting, in which religion and science can have a meeting.

Religion failed because it was other-worldly and it neglected this world.

You cannot neglect this world; to neglect this world is to neglect your own roots.

Science has failed because it neglected the other world, the inner, and you cannot neglect the flowers.

Once you neglect the flowers, the innermost core of being, life loses all meaning. The tree needs roots, so man needs roots, and the roots can only be in the earth. The tree needs an open sky to grow, to come to a great foliage and to have thousands of flowers. Then only is the tree fulfilled, then only does the tree feel significance and meaning and life becomes relevant.

Man is a tree.

Religion has failed because it is talking only of the flowers. Those flowers remain philosophical, abstract; they never materialise. They could not materialise because they were not supported by the earth. And science has failed because it cares only about the roots.

The roots are ugly and there seems to be no flowering.

The West is suffering from too much science; the East has suffered from too much religion. Now we need a new humanity in which religion and science become two aspects of one man. And the bridge is going to be art.

That’s why I say that the new man will be a mystic, a poet and a scientist.

Between science and religion only art can be the bridge — poetry, music, sculpture.

Once we have brought this new man into existence, the earth can become for the first time what it is meant to become.

It can become a paradise: this very earth the paradise!

Each Age has deemed the new-born year, the fittest time for festal cheer.

I would like to share my appreciation for all the kind comments, emails, and accolades I've received throughout the year.

I trust this coming year will complete the awakening of the masses.

Time is speeding up, and information if spreading like a mad fire.

This is the last Evening of 2011. I went outside to see the last sunset of the year, as I watched as the gold met the blue, then faded away.

May stars shine upon you. May flowers fill your heart with beauty and joy. May truth forever shed light upon your fears. May trust wipe away your tears. May tomorrow's arising of the sun bring forth anew, a rebirth in you; an awakening.

With 2012 knocking at the door...just know that life is short. No longer stand silent; break the rules. Be sure to forgive quickly, and LOVE truly. Laugh uncontrollably, and let go of the past.

Here are some of the most important articles that should not be forgotten in the new year.

What a wonderful gift to receive this Christmas. Maybe Santa does exist.

Those who lobbied to have George W. Bush and Tony Blair tried for their role in the Iraq War have finally got their wish.

The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal, part of an initiative by former Malaysian premier Mahathir Mohamad — a fierce critic of the Iraq war — found the former US President George W. Bush and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair guilty of war crimes for their roles in the Iraq war.

The verdict was unanimous; President George Bush of the United States of America is found guilty of War Crimes to Humanity.

“War criminals have to be dealt with – convict Bush and Blair as charged. A guilty verdict will serve as a notice to the world that war criminals may run but can never ultimately hide from truth and justice,” the statement from the Perdana Global Peace Foundation

The foundation was set up by former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed, who was always a staunch opponent of the war against the regime of Saddam Hussain in 2003. He previously branded Blair and Bush “child-killers”.

The tribunal, which consisted of a former federal judge and several academics, paid particular attention to the failure of the Western military to find a single weapon of mass destruction in Iraq.

WMDs were cited by the Western coalition as a major reason for their military intervention. It also declared the war to be in contravention of the will of the United Nations.

“The evidence showed that the drums of war were being beaten long before the invasion. The accused in their own memoirs have admitted their intention to invade Iraq regardless of international law,” said the tribunal.

The five-panel Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal decided that Bush and Blair committed genocide and crimes against humanity by leading the invasion of Iraq in 2003. The US and Britain invaded Iraq in blatant violation of international law and under the pretext of finding weapons of mass destruction allegedly stockpiled by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

The Malaysian tribunal judges ruled that the decision to wage war against Iraq by the two former heads of government was a flagrant abuse of law and an act of aggression that led to large-scale massacres of the Iraqi people.

Bombings and other forms of violence became commonplace in Iraq shortly after the US-led invasion of the country.

In their ruling, the tribunal judges also stated that the US, under the leadership of Bush, fabricated documents to make it appear that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction.

However, the world later learned that the former Iraqi regime did not possess WMDs and that the US and British leaders knew this all along.

Over one million Iraqis were killed during the invasion, according to the California-based investigative organization Project Censored.

The judges also said the court findings should be provided to signatories to the Rome Statute, which established the International Criminal Court, and added that the names of Bush and Blair should be listed on a war crimes register.

“Unlawful use of force threatens the world to return to a state of lawlessness. The acts of the accused were unlawful.”

Mahathir, who stepped down in 2003 after 22 years in power, unveiled plans for the tribunal in 2007 just before he condemned Bush and Blair as “child killers” and “war criminals” at the launch of an annual anti-war conference.

The tribunal is also expected to later hear torture and war crimes charges against seven others, including former U.S. Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld and former Vice-President Dick Cheney.

Amnesty International called on Canadian authorities Wednesday to arrest and prosecute George W. Bush, saying the former U.S. president authorized “torture” when he directed the U.S.-led war on terror.

The London-based group charged that Bush has legal responsibility for a series of human rights violations in a memorandum submitted last month to Canada’s attorney general but only now released to the media.

“Canada is required by its international obligations to arrest and prosecute former president Bush given his responsibility for crimes under international law including torture,”- Amnesty’s Susan Lee said in a statement.

“As the U.S. authorities have, so far, failed to bring former president Bush to justice, the international community must step in. A failure by Canada to take action during his visit would violate the UN Convention Against Torture and demonstrate contempt for fundamental human rights,” -Lee said.

A spokesman for the Canadian government was not immediately available for comment.

Bush cancelled a visit to Switzerland in February, after facing similar public calls for his arrest.

Alex Neve, secretary general of Amnesty International’s Canadian branch, told a press conference the rights group will pursue its case against the former U.S. president with the governments of other countries he might visit.

“Torturers must face justice and their crimes are so egregious that the responsibility for ensuring justice is shared by all nations,” -Neve said.

“Friend or foe, extraordinary or very ordinary times, most or least powerful nation, faced with concerns about terrorism or any other threat, torture must be stopped"

“Bringing to justice the people responsible for torture is central to that goal. It is the law… And no one, including the man who served as president of the world’s most powerful nation for eight years can be allowed to stand above that law.”

Amnesty, backed by the International Civil Liberties Monitoring Group, claims Bush authorized the use of “enhanced interrogation techniques” and “waterboarding” on detainees held in secret by the Central Intelligence Agency between 2002 and 2009.

The detention program included “torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment [such as being forced to stay for hours in painful positions and sleep deprivation], and enforced disappearances,” it alleged.

Amnesty’s case, outlined in its 1,000-page memorandum, relies on the public record, U.S. documents obtained through access to information requests, Bush’s own memoir and a Red Cross report critical of the U.S.’s war on terror policies.

Amnesty cites several instances of alleged torture of detainees at the Guantanamo Bay naval facility, in Afghanistan and in Iraq, by the US military.

They include that of Zayn al Abidin Muhammed Husayn (known as Abu Zubaydah) and 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, both arrested in Pakistan. The two men were waterboarded 266 times between them from 2002 to 2003, according to the CIA inspector general, cited by Amnesty.

More than 100 protesters, including many from the Occupy Vancouver protest, gathered outside a Surrey hotel calling for the arrest of former U.S. president George W. Bush who was inside speaking to a business group.

The demonstration was organized by Amnesty International, which has urged the Canadian government to arrest Bush for human-rights abuses committed during the former American leader’s War on Terror.

Other groups attending the rally included Lawyers Against War and the Canadian Centre for International Justice.

Murray Weisenberger, chair of the British Columbia Green Party, carried a placard that said: “Arrest Bush Now.”

“If Mr. Bush is innocent of war crimes then he should go to The Hague and defend himself,” he said.

“And I certainly believe he is guilty. The buck has to stop at the top and Bush was at the top and failed to defend the rights of human beings.”

Time To Grow From Capitalism to Humanism

After the work of Copernicus and others had demonstrated that the earth was not the center of the universe but only a part of a much larger system, the world began to change its vision of reality. The process took hundreds of years. Today, because humanity has become a dominant influence on earth, we are faced with another such change: from nature being a convenience for people, to people being a part of nature. The scope is similar. Our attempts to understand nature have always been directed towards four main areas of knowledge: energy, matter, life, and consciousness. Evolution itself has followed the same avenues. Our own evolution is repeatedly going through a similar process: first we recognize, at different degrees of definition, that there is energy present in matter, then this matter is organized into objects for our benefit, and finally this process has the effect of expanding our consciousness. Presently, we are going through one of these phases that will eventually raise our consciousness to a level never attained before. Our present understanding of life processes and the uses, excessive in many instances, that we make of matter are setting the stage for such a necessary step toward a higher level of consciousness.

Since evolution is a dynamic process, it is absolutely necessary to know where we come from if we want to understand where we are at present and where we are going in the future. It is a matter of momentum. Today, in all areas of science, a great deal of energy is being expended in the service of discovering where we stand in nature’s quartet (i.e., energy, matter, life, and consciousness). Unfortunately, since these efforts are made by specialists practicing their "art" in solo, they are mainly being employed to maximize the efficiency of our species' partitions, instead of being applied in concert with Nature in a symphony of life.

Ultimately, play in tunes with nature we will, or suffer dire consequences. The odds are not on our side. Ninety nine percent of all species that have ever lived are now extinct. It is serious. Our next move will be decisive. We have reached the point of no return. All our energies will have to be used in conjoint efforts towards the common goal of survival. Many other species have been confronted with the same predicament, but none, as far as we know, has ever known beforehand that they could do something about it. We do.

In this essay, I will attempt to clarify some fundamental fallacies buried in our collective unconscious that we have committed in the course of our evolution, and which are affecting the perception that we have of our stance in the symphony of life.

To “set the tone,” let us look, as an example, at how Francis Crick–Noble laureate for his work in the discovery of the mechanisms of life (genes)–is looking at the soul and consciousness from the point of view of science, in his book, The Astonishing Hypothesis (1994). We must agree with Crick’s learned description of neurophysiology's state of research on these subjects, even if we should not agree with his philosophical standpoint and with his conclusions. Our disagreement should not be with his beliefs in the urgent need to step up research on consciousness, but with his beliefs in the way this research should be conducted. From the start, indeed, he wholeheartedly dismisses philosophy and strongly calls for an escalation of scientific experiments, because, according to him, the record of science in the search for truth is a lot more convincing than that of philosophy.

I must say that the record of one is not better than that of the other. All the assertions about truth are matters of timing and points of view. Indeed, as is the case with our past beliefs, many of today's "scientific" beliefs eventually will be looked at with contempt by future generations of people, who will then be in the process of uncovering today's hidden philosophical jewels and posthumously paying respect to the philosophers among us who are presently treasuring these jewels.

This is the price that true philosophers have to pay to perceive Reality’s leading edge.

The sciences are the flowers of our civilization. The sole evolutionary function of flowers —beside the "pleasure" they provide us — is to yield fruits, only to fade away and make room for new generations. Flowers have absolutely nothing to do with the successes or the failures of the fruits that they bear. When successes happen among seeds, the flowers that were there forerunners have long since disappeared. These successes and failures have to do with grounds of reality that are alien to flowers.

That today's scientists can be so sure of their philosophical stance and so convinced of their own endurance, follows from the fact that the last relevant philosophical breakthroughs supporting their beliefs were opportunistically made, at the beginning of this century, by “giants,” Einstein, Mach, Plank, De Broglie, Heisenberg, Bohr, etc, a long time ago in scientific terms. It is also true that other important breakthroughs outside of science have also been made by professional philosophers during the same period, but these breakthroughs were always made in accordance with the scientific points of view that were in style at the time.

That these scientific standpoints could not, and still cannot be drastically criticized, as they should have been and still should be, is due to the fact that those outside of the specialized sciences lack the knowledge to differentiate between the "profundity" and the "obscurity" of these standpoints.

Consequently, all the latest breakthroughs in science have been made from academic disciplinary stances that have the effect of restricting scientists, and all of us with them, to setting a course on the particular path of realism that we are now condemned to follow for economic reasons, given the many existing social activities that are following the presently well established trends that modern scientists have convincingly set for us.

We are, indeed, condemned by science to keep to the beaten track of a limited representation of nature. But there still remain a possibility for us to realign our minds on other aspects of reality. I believe, along with Mike Nickerson, who wants to "change the world," that our efforts in cognition have to be drastically redirected, in much the same manner as they were when Copernicus reorganized the heavens at the dawn of the scientific era. This overdue revolution in our interpretation of the observations and suppositions that we are making in and about our microcosm (e.g., quantum mechanics, and string theory), and the discovery of the new meanings that these observations should have for our every day lives, will be as important and distressful for science as were Copernicus' De Revolutionibus and Galileo's Sidereus Nuncius for religion at the time.

Some are calling for a new Einstein in social science who will create a theory to solve our present existential problems. I am calling for a change of our point-of-view in the mental realm that will be accepted by everybody, — whether they be lay persons, natural or social scientists, or philosophers — and that will have the potential to transform our concept of reality before it is too late.

The Alarm Has Already Gone Off

We must awaken to this new reality that is emerging in our mist and unite our minds in a spirit of cooperation across all realms of social activities: politics, business, judiciary, academia, religion, art, and domestic affairs.

It should not matter that from within each of these realms the present situation of the world seems overly complex. The solutions to our present predicament, if there are solutions to be found, will not come from within any single realm of activity, but from a point of view encompassing all of them. The infrastructures needed to achieve together this integration are already being set up in a World Wide Web of information.

This essay is an attempt to lay down stepping-stones amidst the stream of "uncertainties" that Western civilization encountered at the beginning of the twentieth century, and alongside which humanity has been drag on aimless pathways of information by normal-science. I intend to show that it is this stream of uncertainties that the "information superhighway" has to bridge, in order for all of humanity to peacefully enjoy the openness of the other bank, where we will all be more at ease, in our respective fields, to work at finding viable solutions to the problems created by our chaotic entry in the Third Millennium

The reason we are driving ourselves into an evolutionary morass is that we have indeed let the ultimate medium, ourselves, become the message. We have thus created an environment of knowledge, in which we have evolved as contented prisoners of a four-dimensional reality that we perceive from our limited point of view.

It has become our common responsibility to liberate ourselves from this intellectual and emotional confinement. Once we set ourselves free, we will have the opportunity to explore new dimensions of reality, while still using, at the outset, the mental tools that we have perfected with the meager resources that we had at our disposal during the relatively short period of our sapiens incarceration (In a philosophical cave).

But, before we make any significant move as a species, a new sense of direction will have to be given to humanity as a whole.

Who will accomplish this task? Scientists? I doubt it. They are too respectful of the established rules. Philosophers? Please! They are still prisoners of Plato’s cave. Politicians? Good grief! These days, the term elected leaders has become oxymoron. Financiers? My Lord! I implore you, don’t let it ever happen. Businessmen? Well, maybe! If there is money to be made out there, that is where they’ll be.

To attempt such a move, though, is not the business of any of these people. If we are entering "the outer edges of reality," we need concepts that are at the outer edges of science, philosophy, politics and religion. We need ideas that haven’t been tried yet. So, by definition, none of the members of the previously mentioned establishments can go there before these concepts have been established.

It is not that our institutions will have to be relinquished. Not at all. In these outer edges of reality, all of our social institutions [e.g., military institutions] will become objective entities that we will have to use for the betterment of humanity as a whole as our ancestors learned to use sticks and stones for their own survival, when they first grew out of their instinctive state of mind and evolved into the self-centered gender Homo that we have become.

Since the time has come for us to consciously go forward in evolution, the onus is on us to understand the supramental reality that is opening itself up at the outer edges of our mental confinement, and which will become our next theater of operations. (The term "supramental" was coined by Sri Aurobindo, I believe, and Satprem used it in La genese du surhomme / Essais d’évolution experimental. Buchet/Chastel, 1974. )

For this, we will need a new paradigm— again, made of trials and errors. This time, though, it will be somewhat easier, since we will have a collective memory of the mistakes that we made as sapiens. But, even then, this new paradigm will still be "incommensurable" (it will have nothing to do) with the one we are presently using to make sense of our sapiens perspectives.

We have become used to thinking we know what we are talking about. The truth is, we simply don’t know. At the "End of History," we are like newborns: we have all the potential, but we still have to raise ourselves in a new environment, as Homo novus.

We should not worry. From now on, everything will be okay. I believe that the worst of this rebirth process is behind us. As a pregnant species, indeed, we have suffered all the pain that we can endure, and spilt all the blood that we can afford. We need to set ourselves free from our own womb and take our first breath in this dimension that is opening up in front of us. Our first moment of rebirth will not exhibit itself as a burst of tears, as it does when we transit alone, as individuals, from unconsciousness to consciousness, but conversely, as a collective burst of laughter, once we have finally entered the supramental stage of our development, as a new species.

The process has already begun. We are presently going through a human paradigm shift, which will have the same significance for everybody in all realms of societies: for academics and common law prisoners, for drug dealers and politicians, for Palestinians and Jews, for Christians and Muslims, for atheists and believers, and for lay people in general to scientists in particular. The process of cultural differentiation through which we had to go during our common gestatory past as sapiens foetus will no longer matter. Nobody will be excluded. This collective achievement will be a rebirth for all of us. The era into which we are entering must be an era of global understanding and forgiveness, or there will be no new era. We will have become a stillborn species. . . .

Many of us know intuitively that such a momentous change is happening. The media is thriving on it. Presently there is an ad on TV for a well-known insurance company, telling us that "nothing remains constant, but change itself." Welcome aboard! This is a nice way to remind us that we are alive. This slogan is indeed a decent interpretation of homeostasis, the most fundamental principle of life, defined as the tendency of biological systems to maintain an internal state of equilibrium in response to the changes in the environment.

This tendency to homeostasis is indeed present in all living systems, from individual cells to organisms to the biosphere as a whole. The process is dynamic and universal. In the domain of life, changes happen constantly. Each level of organization has both a direct and an indirect influence on the state of equilibrium of all the other levels, from within cells to the biosphere as a whole.

What is important, here, is not solely that each level of organization has a tendency to maintain internal equilibrium, but the fact that, in order for this dynamic equilibrium to be maintained, there must be communication between all adjacent levels of organization. When there is a lack of communication between levels, diseases occur. As an example, some researchers have found that the reason cancerous cells multiply themselves anarchically may be due to the fact that signals for their divisions are not coming from outside the cells, as they usually do in normal cells, but from inside the cancerous cells. This has the consequence of producing an uncontrolled growth of cells (cancer), having no relation to the functions normally carried out by these cells in the organ that constitutes their environment.

If the biosphere is effectively a living organism, as I believe it is, then it is obvious that human individuals are behaving like cancerous cells. This is the problem. The biosphere is suffering from a collective brain tumor, a cancer only interested in its own growth. If this is the case, then the only rational thing to do at the moment is to find ways for us to go into remission. The present essay is an attempt to show the world that such a remission is possible; and that, if it happens, it will be exquisite in ways that cannot be foreseen.

"... populations and organisms are quite different kinds of systems with different kinds of structure. To speak of them as ‘sharing a common attribute’ [cancer, in our case] is to obscure what should be kept clear." ~ T. A. Goudge

Goudge is basing this assertion on the differentiation that he previously made between the concepts of organism and population, in the section ‘Populations as the units of evolution’ in his book, The Ascent of Life:

"[Many] considerations are relevant to the contention that both individual organisms and populations have a ‘structure’. If this term is understood in a general sense to refer to the fact that in both cases we can distinguish a set of parts having a certain spatial arrangement and certain modes of functional correlation with each other, then the contention is no doubt defensible. But such a general approach fails to take account of the important respects in which the two cases differ. Thus, for example, the parts (cells, tissues, organs, etc.) which enter into the structure of a multicellular plant or animal are so intimately co-ordinated that as a rule they are in direct organic continuity with one another. But the structure of a population is not usually characterized by the organic continuity of its parts (the individuals that compose it). Furthermore, the functioning of the parts of a plant or animal structure is directed toward maintaining a state of relative equilibrium within the organism as a whole or between the organism and its environment [homeostasis]. The behaviour of individuals in a population, however, is not ordinarily directed towards preserving its equilibrium."

But, during the next decade, at the same university, the University of Toronto, Marshall McLuhan was visualizing the effects of the oncoming World Wide Web on the world population in these terms:

"Electric circuitry involves men with one another. Information pours upon us, instantaneously and continuously. As soon as information is acquired, it is very rapidly replaced by still newer information. Our electrically-configured world has forced us to move from habit of data classification to the mode of pattern recognition. We can no longer build serially, block-by-block, step-by-step, because instant communication insures that all factors of the environment and of experience coexist in a state of active interplay."

We can see that these two thinkers, Goudge and McLuhan, did not agree. The first was telling us that there is no direct "organic continuity" in populations of individuals, and the second that human populations "coexist in a state of active interplay." Both support my hypothesis, though, that Homo sapiens is giving birth to or is evolving into a new species, Homo novus. Goudge was talking about human populations prior to the advent of the Internet, McLuhan, about the effects that these nascent channels of communications would have on the behavior of human populations. They both were talking about the possibility of the human population being a supraorganism. The first did not believe that we could, simply because, at the time he wrote this, we were not yet one. And the second, without mentioning that we are effectively one, was describing the emerging web of communications between humans, using the same terms that he would have used to describe a living organism in which "all factors of [their] environment and of [their] experience coexist in a state of active interplay." (M. McLuhan, op.cit.)

If we belong to a species that is a living organism, we must prepare our youth to act as individuals belonging to a living organism, by directing their behaviour "toward maintaining a state of relative equilibrium within [society] as a whole [and] between [society] and its environment" (T. A. Goudge, op.cit). We must stop preparing our youth to become part of a viral economy, obsessed by its own growth, at the expense of everything it can invade, just as our financial and political leaders are presently doing with their lustful, selfish, and environmentally pointless investment schemes and their lingering and transparent war peddling.

"The aim of science is to understand and explain the evolution of natural phenomena by studying the relations which exist between them." ~ Pierre Lecomte du Noüy

At this point I do not expect anybody to understand, from my perspective, the relationship that exists between the stock market and military activities. Many people understand these relationships, but they do it from inside the system, from the point of view of "progress." I do not. My intention is to later explain these relationships as I see them from outside the system, from the point of view of evolution. It will not be easy. No terms are readily available to explain what I mean. All the terms that I can use have obsolescent progressive connotations. I am not interested in progress —especially when I realize where it is leading us. Evolution is the antithesis of progress. I have to forge my sentences in the teeth of progressive conformists, our leaders, from the left as much as from the right, who are making a living leading humanity towards the edge of the deadly cliff.

While the other animals are aware of and adapt to the immediate environment in which they live, they are not aware of the global environment in which they evolve. Everything they perceive (prey, offspring, refuge, etc.) exists as an extension of themselves; the global environment in which they evolve is "invisible" to them : e.g., fish are not aware of the sea in which they swim nor lions of the savannah in which they hunt.

The same is true for us: the four dimensions in which we exist is also an extension of ourselves. During our own evolution as a species, we have always been aware of the local environment in which we were progressing, but we never had any clues about the global environment in which we were —and still are— evolving. We progress within existing paradigms, but evolve into new ones allowing us to eventually expose other levels of reality.

To show this, let us look at some paradigm shifts that happened during our mental progression as Homo. During our journey into the mental world we have been in contact with many different environments. Of course, we have always been part of the same universe, but we have understood it at different levels, using different paradigms.

It all started when we understood that we could use sticks and stones to manage our way through life as a group. The great apes were also using tools —probably the same that they are using now. The difference between them and us resided in the fact that we abstracted the meaning that these "tools" had for us as a group, while apes never did. Tools thus became entities that we could use mentally to collectively plan ahead. It is at this point that we started our journey into the mental dimension of reality, into the "abstract domain." (Monod) From then on, we gained the capacity to "objectify" reality and use it for our own purposes. At first, it was in caves around fires, then around chiefs and elders. By then, we knew a lot about nature, but certainly we were not yet aware of it as an objective entity. We were still like fish in the water, not yet able to objectify such an encompassing entity. There was still a lot of mysticism surrounding the global environment in which we were living. It was only much later, from 5,000 to 10,000 years ago, around the time of the agricultural revolution that we would have become aware of the earth, per se. Paradoxically, it was probably only after we needed to observe the heavens to make out the times of planting and harvesting that we gained the mental capacity to objectify the earth. Even then, it was not the earth as we know it now. It was perceived to be flat and supported by turtles swimming in the sea surrounding us. Even then, we were probably not consciously differentiating between the heavens and the earth. It was only later that we came to understand that there was a heaven above, and that it was of "another nature" than the earth on which we live. By then, the earth became round, for some of us at least, but still fixed at the center of the universe. It was only 500 years ago that we finally understood that the earth was spinning on its axis once a day and revolving around the sun once a year. But we still did not have the same notion of the universe that we now have. Only later, did we finally begin to understand that our galaxy itself was just an atom in the immensity of the universe.

It probably did not happen this way. Our mental development must have been intermittent, with much starting and stopping. The fact is, though, that our understanding of nature was not given to us from the start, but by every step forward that we made in knowledge, via paradigm shifts, which transformed us as a species and gave us new opportunities as individuals. It is such a momentous step forward that I believe we as a species are presently making.

To understand what is happening now, let us look at the last observable step in our understanding of nature that we made as a species: the Copernican revolution, when we "shifted" from the "geocentric" paradigm (the earth fixed at the center of the universe) to the "heliocentric" paradigm (the earth revolving around the sun). Before Copernicus, we were all raised with the belief that the earth was fixed at the centre of the universe. This belief was not formulated as such, it was simply obvious that the earth itself does not move but that the sun travels daily from east to west. To explain these phenomena, and the others that we were observing in the heavens from this point of view, we had to invent many concepts:

* The world was divided into two different realms of reality: the heavens above, ruled by a perfect order, and the earth below, the sphere of imperfection;

* The notion of perfect circular motion was used to explain the diurnal motion of the sun and the annual motion of the fixed stars;

* To explain the fact that the stars and the planets were not falling on earth, which was the natural thing for all objects heavier than air and fire to do, we invented the notion of crystalline spheres organized in different levels, on which the "fixed’ stars, the "wandering" planets, the sun and the moon were attached;

* Epicycles (small circles centred on the circumference of larger circles) were used to explain the apparent retrograde motion of the "wanderers" (the planets);

* Other ad hoc concepts, which we do not need to understand anymore, such as deferent, equant and prime mover, were also used.

By the time the Copernican system was perfected at the end of the 17th century, all these concepts had become obsolete; we did not need them anymore to explain the phenomena that we were observing in heaven. It did not come easy. Giordano Bruno was burned at the stake in Rome, in 1600, for having anticipated the modern conception of the universe, i.e., the sun is a star, seen closely, and Venus, Mars, and Jupiter are planets like the earth, seen from afar, and to have "exposed the philosophical implications of the Copernican theory." (Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopaedia, in Micro Soft’s INFOPEDIA) The church and the secular establishments did not accept that, since their members were grounding their power on the belief that they were at the centre of it-all. But, after they all died, the truth, as usual, triumphed.

The same is true today. The shift in our thinking that needs to be accomplished at the moment, though, does not have anything to do with the revolution of the heavenly bodies nor with our understanding of the elementary particles of matter, or with our knowledge of nature, but with the evolution of our worldly behaviour through time —with the knowledge of our own evolving nature.

We also look at our nature as if it is "fixed" in time. We hear it all the time:

" It is human nature"

"Human nature does not change"

"We cannot change our nature."

But is it true? If we define a species in relation to the environment in which it lives, are we the same now as we were when we thought that the earth was flat? Ho! It is true that Genghis Khan probably thought that the earth was flat, and that this did not stop him from being as violent as we can be today. It is also true, though, that he did not have the same opportunities that we have today, because he lacked the present environment of knowledge. He was living in the same objective environment as the one in which we live today, but his mind was shaped by an environment of knowledge totally different from the one in which we are raised as modern-day human beings. At any rate, I contend that our intra-species violence is not the consequence of our nature, but of our ignorance, as we will later see.

What would happen if one day soon we discovered that there is a reality beyond space and time that we can collectively apprehend and use to our benefit? Will it be as when we first entered the spatiotemporal reality in which we live presently, and understood that we could use "sticks and stones," at first to "break bones," and then to eventually go around the world in 90 minutes? Would it not be the beginning of a new era, as it was when we first transcended our biological nature and unconsciously started our rational progression into human nature? This new era has already been recognized by some of us. Satprem, following Sri Aurobindo, has already mentioned in La Genese du Surhomme that humanity is evolving into a "super species," and that our descendants will be as different from us as we are from the great apes from which we descended. We are presently entering the supramental realm of reality in which, I am sure, we will regain consciousness of the aspects of the environment that were lost in the process of our becoming conscious human beings, but which are still perceived by the other animals. (cf. Rupert Sheldrake’s work).

It is at this point that I usually perceive empty eyes, and I hear the dismissive comment from "scientists" that this is "mystical." This remark, at this point of my reflection, always sends me back 10,000 years, to when we still believed that the earth was supported by turtles. It is not mysticism any more than it is normal science! Mysticism is the antithesis of science: mystics firmly believe in what they do not see but can spiritually experience; while scientists systematically doubt everything they see, even if they can experience it rationally. Both camps are in possession of a complementary aspect of the truth. As with quantum mechanics’ complementary, each of these aspects of knowledge entails the other. Neither mystics nor scientists, on their own, can come close to what truly is. The next level of truth will be found in a synthesis of these two types of cognition: spiritual and rational. We will come back to this aspect later. For now, let us look at the evidence that supports the hypothesis that we are on the verge of becoming a new species.[source]

Having a crappy christmas seems to be in the air.

My best friends baby girl(CaCera) was hit and killed by a car on christmas eve and his baby boy(Benny) and his sister were viciously attacked by a german shepherd-pitbull mix in Sacramento.

It's been a little over a year since my girl Brandy was put to rest, and it hasn't gotten any better. It seems like it gets worst at times. It hits be like a ton of bricks, and consumes me, and I break down, but then there are other times that I find myself laughing out loud.

Funny thing, I've always been terrified of roller coasters, and have been wanting to get over the fear by getting on one....and now I'm on an emotional roller coaster -and I want off!

I miss her so much, it's difficult to explain in words.

She WAS my soulmate....everything I could have ever asked for....at least I had the chance to experience that in my life...I get sad when I think of all the times, I didn't respect that...and there were times in the beginning...and there were things i could have done differently...I suppose everyone goes through this...it's helped me understand my parents alot better, and why they did the things they did....it's just life...and hopefullly we learn something from it...I did.

My friend Rich buried CaCera in Sacramento and Benny will be recovering from his attack for a few weeks.

It's times like these that make me wonder what purpose could there be in this? I know there is purpose in everything...but to find it...that's the big question....could there ever be purpose in it? I dunno.

I too am saddened and heartbroken....

...and when she shall die, take her and cut her out in little stars, and she will make the face of heaven so fine....that all the world will be in love with night...and pay no worship to the garish sun....

With the holiday season looming, I can picture one of my holiday frenzied friends asking me:

"But Christmas, who can possibly have a problem with Christmas?"

Oh my. Here we go.

Lest we forget, Christmas is supposedly a celebration of Jesus' birthday. This is entertaining for a number of reasons, the most prominent being that it is almost certain that Jesus was not born on December 25th, more likely he was born in September, so (dear Americans) by the time you're cooking that Turkey (to celebrate the slaughtering of Native Americans), you've already missed it!

"It is only sinners who make great rejoicings over the day in which they were born into this world" - Catholic Encyclopedia, 1908 edition, Vol. 3, p. 724, "Natal Day".

Jesus was not actually Christian, but a Jew. I suppose this is more of a religious issue, but I was entertained by it enough to mention it. You remember the Jews, right? They're the people that the Christians regularly murdered because they were Jewish. Like Jesus Christ. Who was a Jew. Who was persecuted for being Jewish.

Oh, never mind. If you didn't already get it, you certainly won't get it now.

[USA] Speaking of "not Christian" - there's quite a large population of the US that is "not Christian." Many of them are a little tired of having this "official" holiday pushed on them. Let's not forget separation of Church and State, folks.

That's why this country is here in the first place.

Christmas is actually a repurposed pagan holiday, that of the Winter Solstice. Yule tide? That's a pre-Christian holiday. That pine tree you decorate? Jesus never saw one, they didn't exist in the Middle East. And the fat bearded man in a red suit who lives at the North Pole? He was one of Jesus' Apostles, right? Actually, the only connection that Santa Claus has with Jesus the Messiah is that they are both IMAGINARY.

Starting after Thanksgiving / late November and up to Christmas (this is approximately TEN PERCENT of your life on this planet) we are subjected to a continuous litany of mindless ancient pop songs. I speak of such fantastic works as "Here Comes Santa Claus" and "We Wish You A Merry Christmas."

This endless drone, I am sure, is similar to brainwashing techniques that are punishable as war crimes. For over a month we have to listen to every possible version of these Christmas Carols (which often have nothing to do with the birth of Jesus, or the birth of Santa Claus, whenever that may be).

Christmas is not about Jesus' birth. It's about buying. It's about buying gifts and selling gifts and receiving gifts and return gifts. Note that I used the noun "gift" as opposed to the verb "giving." Christmas is not about giving. When you think of buying a present for someone.. oops.. of giving a present to someone, what comes to your mind? Is it love? Is it help? Is it kindness? No, those things can't be wrapped with a red ribbon and topped with a Hallmark Card.

Speaking of giving, is it covered by donating once per year to fat men in hats ringing bells (who may or may not actually work for the Salvation Army)? If you believe in what the Salvation Army does, why only give when smothered with Christmas cheer?

Why not give year round?

And instead of money, how about help?

Although the roof is just a story high, it dizzies me a little to look down.

I lariat-twirl the cord of Christmas lights, and cast it to the weeping birch’s crown; A dowel into which I’ve screwed a hook which enables me to reach, lift, drape, and twine the cord among the boughs so that the bulbs wll accent the tree’s elegant design.

Friends, passing home from work or shopping, pause and call up commendations or critiques. I make adjustments. Though a potpourri of Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jews, and Sikhs, we all are conscious of the time of year; We all enjoy its colorful displays and keep some festival that mitigates the dwindling warmth and compass of the days.

Some say that Hayward. doesn’t suit the Yule, but UPS vans now like magi make their present-laden rounds, while fallen leaves are gaily resurrected in their wake; The desert lifts a full moon from the east and issues a dry Santa Ana breeze, and valets at chic restaurants will soon be tending flocks of cars and SUVs.

And as the neighborhoods sink into dusk the fan palms scattered all across town stand more calmly prominent, and this place seems a vast oasis in the Holy Land. This house might be a caravansary, The tree a kind of cordial fountainhead of welcome, looped and decked with necklaces and ceintures of green, yellow, blue, and red.

Some wonder if the star of Bethlehem occurred when Jupiter and Saturn crossed; It’s comforting to look up from this roof and feel that, while all changes, nothing’s lost, to recollect that in antiquity the winter solstice fell in Capricorn and that, in the Orion Nebula, from swirling gas, new stars are being born.

For thousands of years the Solstice turning points of every year have been honored and celebrated on this planet. We know that people all over the planet have honored the relationship between our earth, the sun, and the moon at key phases during the year.

I’d like to wish you a Happy Solstice.

A New Experiment

A revolutionary is part of the political world; his approach is through politics. His understanding is that changing the social structure is enough to change the human being.

A rebel, as I use the term, is a spiritual phenomenon. His approach is absolutely individual. His vision is that if we want to change the society, we have to change the individual. Society in itself does not exist; it is only a word, like "crowd" - if you go to find it, you will not find it anywhere. Wherever you encounter someone, you will encounter an individual. "Society" is only a collective name - just a name, not a reality - with no substance.

The individual has a soul, has a possibility of evolution, of change, of transformation. Hence, the difference is tremendous.

The rebel is the very essence of religion. He brings into the world a change of consciousness - and if the consciousness changes, then the structure of the society is bound to follow it. But vice versa is not the case, and it has been proved by all the revolutions because they have failed.

No revolution has yet succeeded in changing human beings; but it seems we are not aware of the fact. We still go on thinking in terms of revolution, of changing society, of changing the government, of changing the bureaucracy, of changing laws, political systems. Feudalism, capitalism, communism, socialism, fascism - they were all in their own way revolutionary. They all have failed, and failed utterly, because man has remained the same.

We have to be rebels, not revolutionaries. The revolutionary belongs to a very mundane sphere; the rebel and his rebelliousness are sacred. The revolutionary cannot stand alone; he needs a crowd, a political party, a government. He needs power - and power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Human consciousness has not grown for centuries.

Only once in a while someone blossoms - but in millions of people, the blossoming of one person is not a rule, it is the exception. And because that person is alone, the crowd cannot tolerate him. His existence becomes a kind of humiliation; his very presence feels insulting because he opens your eyes, makes you aware of your potential and your future. And it hurts your ego that you have done nothing to grow, to be more conscious, to be more loving, more ecstatic, more creative, more silent - to create a beautiful world around you.

Hence a Gautam Buddha or a Chuang Tzu hurts you because they have blossomed and you are just standing there.

The world has known only very few rebels. But now is the time: if humanity proves incapable of producing a large number of rebels, a rebellious spirit, then our days on the earth are numbered. Then the coming decades may become our graveyard. We are coming very close to that point.

We have to change our consciousness, create more meditative energy in the world, create more lovingness. We have to destroy the old - its ugliness, its rotten ideologies, its stupid discriminations, idiotic superstitions - and create a new human being with fresh eyes, with new values. A discontintuity with the past - that's the meaning of rebelliousness.

These three words will help you to understand: reform, revolution, and rebellion.

Reform means a modification. The old remains and you give it a new form, a new shape - it is a kind of renovation to an old building. The original structure remains; you whitewash it, you clean it, you create a few windows, a few new doors.

Revolution goes deeper than reform. The old remains, but more changes are introduced, changes even in its basic structure. You are not only changing its color and opening a few new windows and doors, but perhaps building new stories, taking it higher into the sky. But the old is not destroyed, it remains hidden behind the new; in fact, it remains the very foundation of the new. Revolution is a continuity with the old.

Rebellion is a discontinuity. It is not reform, it is not revolution; it is simply disconnecting yourself from all that is old. The old religions, the old political ideologies, the old human being - all that is old, you disconnect yourself from it. You start life afresh, from scratch.

The revolutionary tries to change the old; the rebel simply comes out of the old, just as a snake slips out of the old skin and never looks back.

The future needs no more revolutions. The future needs a new experiment, which has not been tried yet. Although for thousands of years there have been rebels, they remained alone - individuals. Perhaps the time was not ripe for them. But now the time is not only ripe....if you don't hurry, the time has come to an end. In the coming decades, either mankind will disappear or a new human being with a new vision will appear on the earth. That new human being will be a rebel.

In paradise one afternoon, in its most famous cafe, Lao Tzu, Confucius, and Buddha are sitting and chatting. The waiter comes with a tray that holds three glasses of the juice called "Life," and offers them. Buddha immediately closes his eyes and refuses; he says,

"Life is misery."

Confucius closes his eyes halfway - he is a middlist, he used to preach the golden mean - and asks the waiter to give him the glass. He would like to have a sip - but just a sip, because without tasting how can one say whether life is misery or not?

Confucius had a scientific mind; he was not much of a mystic, he had a very pragmatic, earthbound mind.

He was the first behaviorist the world has known, very logical. And it seems perfectly right - he says,

"First I will have a sip, and then I will say what I think."

He takes a sip and he says,

"Buddha is right - life is misery."

Lao Tzu takes all the three glasses and he says,

"Unless one drinks totally, how can one say anything?"

And Lao Tzu says,

"He drinks all the three glasses and starts dancing!"

Buddha and Confucius ask him,

"Are you not going to say anything?"

And Lao Tzu says,

"This is what I am saying - my dance and my song are speaking for me."

Unless you taste totally, you cannot say. And when you taste totally, you still cannot say because what you know is such that no words are adequate.

Buddha is on one extreme, Confucius is in the middle. Lao Tzu has drunk all the three glasses - the one that was brought for Buddha, the one that was brought for Confucius, and the one that was brought for him. He has drunk them all; he has lived life in its three-dimensionality.

My own approach is that of Lao Tzu. Live life in all possible ways; don't choose one thing against the other, and don't try to be in the middle. Don't try to balance yourself - balance is not something that can be cultivated. Balance is something that comes out of experiencing all the dimensions of life. Balance is something that happens; it is not something that can be brought about through your efforts. If you bring it through your efforts it will be false, forced. And you will remain tense, you will not be relaxed, because how can a person who is trying to remain balanced in the middle be relaxed? You will always be afraid that if you relax you may start moving to the left or to the right. You are bound to remain uptight, and to be uptight is to miss the whole opportunity, the whole gift of life.

Don't be uptight. Don't live life according to principles. Live life in its totality, drink life in its totality! Yes, sometimes it tastes bitter - so what? That taste of bitterness will make you capable of tasting its sweetness. You will be able to appreciate the sweetness only if you have tasted its bitterness.

One who knows not how to cry will not know how to laugh, either.

One who cannot enjoy a deep laughter, a belly laugh, that person's tears will be crocodile tears and they cannot be true, they cannot be authentic.

I don't teach the middle way, I teach the total way.

Then a balance comes of its own accord, and then that balance has tremendous beauty and grace. You have not forced it, it has simply come. By moving gracefully to the left, to the right, in the middle, slowly a balance comes to you because you remain so unidentified.

When sadness comes, you know it will pass, and when happiness comes you know that will pass, too. Nothing remains; everything passes by. The only thing that always abides is your witnessing. That witnessing brings balance.

That witnessing is balance.

No religion has been courageous enough to say,

"We know this much, but there is much we don't know; perhaps in the future we may know it. And beyond that, there is a space which is going to remain unknowable forever."

True religion will have the humbleness to admit that only a few things are known, much more is unknown, and something will always remain unknowable. That "something" is the target of the whole spiritual search.

You cannot make it an object of knowledge, but you can experience it, you can drink of it, you can have the taste of it - it is existential.

All these religions have been against doubt. They have been really afraid of doubt. Only an impotent intellect can be afraid of doubt; otherwise doubt is a challenge, an opportunity to inquire.

There is doubt, and doubt is not destroyed by believing. Doubt is destroyed by experiencing.

They say, believe. I say, explore. They say, don't doubt; I say, doubt to the very end, till you arrive and know and feel and experience. Then there is no need to repress doubt; it evaporates by itself. Then there is no need for you to believe.

You have to be again innocent, ignorant, not knowing anything, so that the questions can start arising again. Again the inquiry becomes alive, and with the inquiry becoming alive you cannot vegetate.

Then life becomes an exploration, an adventure.

Development Of Being

You have said knowledge is not any use in the process of coming to know ourselves. So please explain what is included in the development of being?

Being never develops. Being simply is. There is no evolution, there is no time involved in it. It is eternity, it is not "becoming." Spiritually, you never develop; you cannot. As far as the ultimate goal is concerned, you are already there. You have never been anywhere else.

Then what is development? Development is only a kind of awakening to the truth that you are. The truth does not grow; only recognition grows, remembrance grows.

That's why I don't talk about the "development of being." I talk about all the hindrances that are preventing your recognition. And knowledge is the greatest hindrance; hence I have talked about it extensively. It is the barrier.

If you think you already know, you will never know. If you think you already know, what is the point of searching? You can go on sleeping and dreaming. The moment you recognize that you don't know, that recognition of ignorance goes like an arrow into the heart, it pierces you like a spear. In that very piercing, one becomes aware - in that very shock.

Knowledge is a kind of shock absorber. It does not allow you to be shaken and shocked. It goes on protecting you, it is an armor around you. I speak against knowledge so that you can drop the armor; so that life can shock you into awareness.

Life is there, ready to shock you every moment. Your being is there inside you, ready to be awakened any moment. But between these two there is knowledge. And the more of it there is, the more your self-awakening will be delayed.

Become unknowledgeable.

And never think of spirituality as a process of growth. It is not a growth. You are already gods, buddhas from the very beginning. It is not that you have to become buddhas - the treasure is there, only you don't know where you have put it. You have forgotten the key, or you have forgotten how to use the key.You are so drunk with knowledge that you have become oblivious of all that you are. Knowledge is alcoholic; it makes people drunk. Then their perception is blurred, then their remembrance is at a minimum. Then they start seeing things that are not, and they stop seeing things that are.

That's why I have not talked about how to evolve your being. Being is already as it should be, it is perfect. Nothing needs to be added to it, nothing can be added to it. It's a creation of existence. It comes out of perfection, hence it is perfect. Just withdraw all the hindrances that you have created.

Become Ordinary

Everybody is after being extraordinary. That is the search of the ego: to be someone who is special, to be someone who is unique, incomparable. And this is the paradox: the more you try to be exceptional, the more ordinary you look, because everybody is after extraordinariness. It is such an ordinary desire. If you become ordinary, the very search to be ordinary is extraordinary, because rarely does somebody want to be just nobody, rarely does somebody want to be just a hollow, empty space. This is really extraordinary in a way, because nobody wants it. And when you become ordinary you become extraordinary, and, of course, suddenly you discover that without searching you have become unique.

In fact, everybody is unique. If you can stop your constant running after goals for even a single moment, you will realize that you are unique. Your uniqueness is nothing to be invented, it is already there. It is already the case - to be is to be unique. There is no other way of being. Every leaf on a tree is unique, every pebble on the shore is unique, there is no other way of being. You cannot find two identifcal pebbles anywhere on the whole of earth.

Two identical things do not exist at all, so there is no need to be "somebody." You just be yourself, and suddenly you are unique, inconmparable. That's why I say that this is a paradox: those who search fail, and those who don't bother, suddenly attain.

It is said by one of Lao Tzu's great disciples, Lieh Tzu, that once an idiot was searching for fire with a candle in his hand. Said Lieh Tzu: "Had he known what fire was, he could have cooked his rice sooner." He remained hungry the whole night because he was searching for fire but couldn't find it - and he had a candle in his hand, because how can you search in the dark without a candle?

You are searching for uniqueness, and you have it in your hand; if you understand, you can cook your rice sooner. I have cooked my rice and I know. You are unnecessarily hungry - the rice is there, the candle is there, the candle is fire. There is no need to take the candle and search. If you take a candle in your hand and you go searching all over the world, you will not find fire because you don't understand what fire is. Otherwise you could have seen that you were carrying it in your hand.

You need not search for uniqueness, you are unique already. There is no way to make a thing more unique. The words "more unique" are absurd. It is just like the word "circle." Circles exist; there is no such thing as "more circular."

That is absurd. A circle is always perfect, "more" is not needed.

There are no degrees of circularity - a circle is a circle, less and more are useless. Uniqueness is uniqueness, less and more don't apply to it. You are already unique. One realizes this only when one is ready to become ordinary, this is the paradox. But if you understand, there is no problem about it, the paradox is there, and beautiful, and no problem exists. A paradox is not a problem. It looks like a problem if you don't understand; if you understand, it is beautiful, a mystery.

Become ordinary and you will become extraordinary; try to become extraordinary and you will remain ordinary.

Is not it high time that we stop believing all these wonderful superstitions the organized religions are trying to sell us? --

"You have to turn from politicians, from religious people, to the scientist. The whole humanity has to focus on science if it wants to get rid of misery. And my religion I call the science of the inner soul. It is not religion; it is exactly a science. Just as science functions in the objective world, this science functions in the subjective world."

Stop bothering to go to the Church, Temple, Synagogue, because they have befooled you enough. Stop asking these people; the rabbis, the monks, the priests. For all you know they have been giving those consolations for thousands of years.

All their consolations have proved important.

You have to turn from politicians and from religious people –to the scientists. The whole of humanity must focus of science if one wants to get rid of misery.

My religion I call the Science of the Inner Soul. It is not a religion. It is exactly as science. Just as the science functions in the objective world; this science functions in the subjective world. Remember the outer science can help immensely to reduce your suffering and misery to almost 90%. Once your 90% suffering and misery (which are physical, biological) –which science can very easily remove.

You’re then left with 10% misery, and it will be for the first time clear to you.

Right now it’s lost in the mess of this 90% misery. Then you will be able to see all that misery was nothing compared to this 10%. This 10% percent is the real .

That can be transformed through inward movement. Call it meditation, awareness, watchfulness. That 10% misery is a tremendous weight. The 90% is nothing, it is just hunger; food you need, shelter you need. All these things can be tackled by science.

Remove the priest completely. He has no function for the future. He has already done enough mischief.

Focus on science, and then immediately you will see a new dimension arising in you in which you are not aware that was there.

For a hungry man how can he think whether life has meaning or not. A hungry man can not think whether the flower is beautiful or not. He is hungry. You can not talk about music, poetry and painting to him. It would be humiliating to him, an outright insult.

Once these problems disappear, he will start for the first time to inquire about real questions, which can be answered only by subjective science.

So there is no future for religion.

There is future for an objective science to deal with objective matters, and a subjective science to deal your inward matters.

One will take care of biology, physiology. The other will take care of psychology and your ultimate center –The Soul.

Where Do We Rest?

We would do well to start all spiritual investigations and most psychological ones, whether of ourselves or of others, with the question, where do we rest? When there is nothing that we are doing, nothing we have to do, where do we rest? In other words, what is our customary experience of ourselves? This is not only the most central question of all; it is the most profound, and the answer is the most revealing!

Resting In Unrest

First, ask yourself the question, do you rest at all? Many of us are usually in a condition of unrest, of having something urgent to do, some wrong to right. And usually, though we may not admit it, we fear there is something terribly wrong with ourselves.

Look at what you are feeling when you're not doing anything. Are you at rest, or are you feeling driven - to do something, to change something - ultimately to change who you are, to be someone else?

Also, consider what things you do when you are feeling this way? What things do you do when you want be resting? Do lists of shoulds arise unbidden in your mind? Do you worry, obsess, make plans or at least lists, clean the house or argue?

And, for that matter, what things do you do to rest? Do you drink, smoke marijuana, take tranquilizers, overeat, veg out in front of the TV, jog, or have sex?

Resting In A Belief System

Most of us, when we rest, rest in a belief system. Within this belief system we become all right and let ourselves rest only when we have fulfilled its conditions, when we have gotten the grades, lost the weight, gotten the job, made the money, married the person, gone to church, got the house, mowed the lawn, accepted the social beliefs and in turn have become accepted by the society.

When we achieve all-rightness, or have at least accepted what it is to be all right, we make a position out of it, and we rest in that position. Once we have taken our position, we perceive from it and filter reality from it. Which, of course, means that we judge ourselves, evaluate others and even raise our children from it. As long as we’re in a belief system, there's actually no way to proceed. We have to clear the belief system.

A Question Of Identity

This question of where we rest is ultimately a question of identity. And identity, for most of us, emerges out of our beliefs about ourselves. Who would we be if we were free of any urgency, any compulsion to change something, particularly to change something about ourselves? Who would we be if we were free of any belief system and most of all, free of any belief that there is something wrong with us?

Ideally, when there is nothing to do, we would be resting in emptiness, in alert beingness, fully present in the present, de-void of any pain, uneasiness, anything that has to be remedied, any defense of our identity, any fear, anxiety or self-doubt, any voices in our head. We would be aware, but aware of nothing, of no-thing. For this awareness of no-thing is presence, is inner freedom, is inner peace, and is the gateway to the Self. This awareness of no-thing is the nondual state that spiritual teachers and nondual psychologists are talking about. It is the eternal now; it is presence. It is Christ consciousness and Buddha mind. It is the God within.

It Is Also Our Real Self, Our Ultimate Identity.

When we rest in it, we are resting in a place other than our belief identity, our ordinary, personal identity, self-concept or ego.

The goal of any true transformational practice, whether spiritual or psychological, is to be able to rest - and when resting to rest in this nondual space. At the same time, because only resting in nonduality lets us see what positions we are holding, our transformational practices have to encompass the goal. For only when we let go to nonduality, to emptiness, can we notice what we have been (habitually) holding, what we have been resting in, and what we were doing to endure or avoid it. Paradoxically, it is only in emptiness that we have a place to stand in and to notice from. And only when we notice what we have been holding, can we let go of it.

So accessing nonduality and resting in it is the true goal of all spiritual practices, all forms of meditation, Advaidic inquiry, Yoga, chanting, spiritual music, Sufi whirling and the like. When they bring us nonduality, then and only then do we become aware of our usual states of being, feel the way they have been imprisoning our spirit and appreciate the desirability of letting them go!

The evolutionary dialectic of psychospiritual transformation, then, is to access emptiness, notice our usual states of consciousness by their absence, resolve to let go of them when they arise again, and by letting go return to emptiness. As this process is repeated time and time again, our consciousness spirals upwards, our belief identity unwinds and our real identity becomes realer. In addition, less of our time is spent in the former and more in the latter, until ultimately whenever we rest, we do so in nonduality.

When the final goal is reached, meditative practices and therapeutic techniques cease to serve any transformational purpose and can be reserved for maintenance. The practices are the means, never the end. Once the far shore is reached, the raft can be chopped up for firewood.

The Selfless Self

Resting in our true identity, in nonduality, in the selfless Self, is the starting point, the point of the origination for all true human endeavors, individual, collective, and even evolutionary. For if we are not in our true identity; we are not coming from truth. We are in a belief system, a position, a self-concept. We are in a false identity and anything that we say, think or do, whatever its merits, is a defense of that false identity, a compensation and a reaction. As such, it cannot be wholly true. Only when we build on the foundation of our true identity, do we build on reality, and only when we build on reality, can we build a viable personality, viable relationships, and a viable society.

Oh my gosh!...today was black friday.......and the Sheeple ran to Wal-Mart as expected by the manipulation of the advertisers through the magic box we call TV, drilling into each of their minds, that by purchasing something, you could SAVE money.

How in the hell are you suppose to save money by spending it?

It reminds me of my cousin Steve once telling me he went broke saving money at Wal-Mart.

But these Sheeple had to be sure and get that 9 dollar toaster or 12 dollar crockpot, before all the other Sheeple took them.

These are the Sheeple that voted for Obama, and are most likely to vote him in again.

These are the same Sheeple who go to their local CVS to get their yearly flu shot because they read the poster hanging on the wall that instructed them to do so.

These are the same Sheeple who keep their entire life savings at the bank.

These are the Sheeple who bought a house that was completely outside of their means, and now had to do a short sale to get out from under the overwhelming interest that Obama pepetuated.

These are the same Sheeple that are now unemployed and are using their unemployment benefits to buy this garbage.

These are the Sheeple who feed their children processed and Genetically Modified Foods.

These are the Sheeple who are always looking down on their blackberry, instead of looking up to the skies, where they would see the Chemtrails being sprayed upon them.

These are the Sheeple who submit to fear tactics by the Government.

These are the same Sheeple who care more about Fantasy football or Dancing with the Stars more than the national debt.

These are the very same Sheeple that will kill each other over the color of their skin.

These are the Sheeple who send their children to WAR.

These are the very same Sheeple that buy everything on credit and enslave themselves to debt their whole lives.

What could be more American than reaching for something new? The U.S. is, after all, a nation founded on the rejection of tradition and a profound belief in invention. This urge has given us more than two centuries of powerful technology, but has also made Americans the world's most voracious consumers.

The propensity to buy, discard, and buy again is no accident.

During the next few years, the overwhelming problem of waste of all kinds will, I believe, compel American manufacturers to modify industrial practices that feed upon a throwaway ethics.

The golden age of obsolescence -- the heyday of nylons, tailfins, and transistor radios -- will go the way of the buffalo.

The new models always suck better.

"Deliberate obsolescence in all its forms -- technological, psychological, or planned -- is a uniquely American invention. Not only did we invent disposable products, ranging from diapers to cameras to contact lenses, but we invented the very concept of disposability itself," -Slade, a Canadian cultural historian

The result is a growing stream of hazardous waste that is gradually awakening us to the costs of our disposable society. Millions of tons of e-waste end up in U.S. landfills each year, and millions more are exported to developing countries.

How do we undo this cycle of consumption, when our economy is based on buying, trashing, and buying again?

Assuming Americans are willing to cut back on their over zealous consumption and muster the effort to recycle their trash.

Will corporate America drop the aggressive sales pitches wherein billions are spent encouraging people to buy impulsively?

Will people be able to kick the mass consumption habit generations in the making?

According to what we see in the youtube videos, it doesn't appear that this will happen any time soon.

We are still a very infantile species.

We may have nasty deadly complex toys to play with, but we are still infants What makes this so incredibly dangerous for us is the fact that we are also orphans. We are on our own, sink or swim time. This explains why we keep looking for a big daddy in a God or a political leader. Deep inside, most know that they are in over their heads and are terrified, so they seek comfort in illusion.

Just like an orphan always dreams of being a child of royalty.

Let's take a closure look at what creates Sheeple...

...In the documentary, "Century Of The SELFish Sheeple", by Dr. John A. LaPaglia. explains that the first American to popularly refer to Americans as "Cattle" was Walter Lippmann.

This is a parody of the Adam Curtis BBC corporate propaganda documentary that was designed to screw over dumb sheeple BBC viewers titled, "Century Of The Self".

Dr. LaPaglia tells the truth right to your face by bringing you a non-corporate propaganda documentary about how Dr. Edward Bernays was 100% correct in his observations of the average human being:

Yes, they're stupid!!! The average sheeple human being is a moron. They are willfully ignorant barbarians.

Yes, since ancient Roman times, intellectual anomalies have discovered that they're stupid, however, Bernays discovered that the masses were REALLY DAMN STUPID ANIMALS!!! Don't get angry at me, but you know the documentary is right! This documentary shows just how idiotic they are, and how they need to be controlled by responsible people to lead the herd of mindless, brainless cattle.

The banks never forced you to take out loans you could not pay back, the corporations never forced you to be a selfish consumer, and the elites actually have very little power over the masses because the average cattle is devoid of any critical thinking skills.

The truth is that over 99% of human beings (sheeple) live inside of an "artificial womb" their entire lives which keeps them from acknowledging reality. The sheeple come in two different flavors:

1) Vanilla Conservative Sheeple

2) Strawberry Liberal Sheeple

The "Conservative Sheeple" want a "Fantasy God" they make up in their minds to give them everything they want in this life and the afterlife.

The "Liberal Sheeple" want a "Human God", we call a politician, to check under their beds for allegators, feed them, give them a welfare check, protect them, lead them, and make certain that they never, ever, EVER have to take any personal responsibility over their lives.

The sheeple always prefer fantasy over acknowledging reality. Have you seen how much television these dumb barbarian animals watch? The sheeple see the world in a purely "Black and White" fashion. They want to blame everything on a "Bad Guy" instead of realizing that the world is a mess from their own damn selfish behaviors. Seriously, the sheeple are greedy, delusional, and above all else stupid! This can be seen in the act of gambling, where when they win once, they delusionally believe they can 'beat the system', and win an infinite amount of money, or just look at the current house-flipping scheme that led to the destruction of the US economy in 2008.

The sheeple always, always, ALWAYS refuse to take personal responsibility for their own actions and are extremely financially irresponsible. They are 100% morons, just look at how they have been turned into slaves by their own MASTERcards (yes, the directors of corporations know you are dumb cattle too ignorant to see that insult).

The sheeple love oxymorons, like "You can SAVE more, by PAYing less!" (Payless corporate trademark) - Do you not see how dumb these animals are? How they hoard consumer goods like animalistic squirrels hoard nuts in a tree?

The sheeple always give into laziness and expediency, time and time again. The evidence is all in the documentary "Century Of The SELFish Sheeple".

Dr. Sigmund Freud's work in psychoanalysis and the subconscious with, among others, the work of Gustave le Bron; who had created theories on group/crowd psychology, really defined the process of creating a sense of need from desire. For example, the First World War effort. From his book ‘Propaganda’, there are buzz phrases such as ‘Engineering Consent‘ which deal with methods for manipulating the population/audience emotionally towards action. He went on to be consulted and referenced heavily among governments on serious political and social agendas, but to this day the lasting effect of his work was to engineer the consumerist society we now live in.

The manipulation of words and imagery, the creation of spin, keeping up with the Jones’, selling sand to the Arabs; we have quite a lot to thank him for.

What Are You Celebrating?

Since 1970, Native Americans have gathered at noon on Cole's Hill in Plymouth to commemorate a National Day of Mourning on the US thanksgiving holiday.

Native Americans do not celebrate the arrival of the Pilgrims and other European settlers.

Why is it that Americans perpetuate this fundamental lie?

Why do Americans teach their children lies?

What Exactly Are You Celebrating?

Thanksgiving day is nothing more than a harsh reminder of the genocide of millions of Native people, the theft of Native lands, and the relentless assault on Native culture.

Therefore, this is a National Day of Mourning where you should honor Native ancestors and the struggles of Native peoples whom strive to survive today.

It is a day of remembrance and spiritual connection as well as a protest of the racism and oppression which Native Americans continue to experience.

The United American Indians of New England (UAINE) organized their protest to bring publicity to the continued misrepresentation of Native American and colonial experience.

They believed that people needed to be educated about what happened when the Pilgrims arrived in North America.

Educate Your Children & Yourself

A century ago heavy immigration brought millions of southern and eastern Europeans to the United States. Educators and civic groups thought it necessary to assimilate the new citizens. The new arrivals were taught to view the Pilgrims as models for their own families. The tale of the “First Thanksgiving” was an essential element of this curriculum. The story of the Native Americans' and Pilgrims' sharing a meal of turkey became part of United States tradition. The story tells of the mutually beneficial relationship between these groups.

The truth is, by contrast; the Pilgrims did not find a new and empty land. Every inch of land they claimed was Indian land. They also say that the Pilgrims immigrated as part of a commercial venture and that they introduced sexism, racism, anti-homosexual bigotry, jails, and the class system.

Governor John Winthrop proclaimed the first official “Day of Thanksgiving” in 1637 to celebrate the return of men that had gone to Mystic, Connecticut to fight against the Pequot, an action that resulted in the deaths of more than 700 Pequot women, children, and men (what their people called massacre).

In 1863, during the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln authorized that the fourth Thursday of November be set aside to give thanks and praise for the nation’s blessings.

This is how Thanksgiving became part of American culture.

UAINE believes that Native American and colonial experience continue to be misrepresented.

It asks why the “First Thanksgiving” was not celebrated or related back to the first colony at Jamestown. (It is because northern culture was more influential at the time, thus celebrating the accomplishments of New England, rather than the South.)

The circumstances at Jamestown were too terrible to be used as a national myth.

Today the UAINE uses the National Day of Mourning to educate people about the history of the Wampanoag people.

UAINE representatives say the only true element of the Thanksgiving story is that the pilgrims would not have survived their first years in New England without the aid of the Wampanoag.

Since 1921 (the 300th year after the first Thanksgiving), the Commonwealth of Massachusetts stages an annual reenactment of Thanksgiving. People gather at a church on the site of the Pilgrims' original meeting house, in 17th century costume. After prayers and a sermon, they march to Plymouth Rock.

The town uses this annual event as a tourist attraction which brings money into the township.

The UNAINE organized the first National Day of Mourning on the 350th anniversary of the Pilgrims' arrival on Wampanoag land.

Wampanoag leader Frank James (also known as Wamsutta) was invited to make a speech at the celebration. But, when the anniversary planners reviewed his speech in advance, they decided it was not appropriate for the celebration. The reason given was,

"...the theme of the anniversary celebration is brotherhood and anything inflammatory would have been out of place."

Wamsutta based his speech on a Pilgrim's account of the first year on Indian land.

The speech recounted the opening of graves, taking the Indians' corn and bean supplies, and selling Wampanoag as slaves for 220 shillings each.

After receiving a revised speech, written by a public relations person, Wamsutta decided he would not attend the celebration.

To protest this final attempt at silencing of the American Indian people, he and his supporters went to neighboring Coles Hill, near the statue of Massasoit (leader of the Wampanoag when the Pilgrims landed).

The First National Day of Mourning

Overlooking the Plymouth Harbour and the Mayflower replica, Wamsutta gave his speech.

Excerpt from Wamsutta Speech:

I speak to you as a man -- a Wampanoag Man. I am a proud man, proud of my ancestry, my accomplishments won by a strict parental direction:
"You must succeed - your face is a different color in this small Cape Cod community!".
I am a product of poverty and discrimination from these two social and economic diseases. I, and my brothers and sisters, have painfully overcome, and to some extent we have earned the respect of our community. We are Indians first - but we are termed "good citizens."

Sometimes we are arrogant but only because society has pressured us to be so.

It is with mixed emotion that I stand here to share my thoughts. This is a time of celebration for you - celebrating an anniversary of a beginning for the white man in America. A time of looking back, of reflection. It is with a heavy heart that I look back upon what happened to my People.

Even before the Pilgrims landed it was common practice for explorers to capture Indians, take them to Europe and sell them as slaves for 220 shillings apiece. The Pilgrims had hardly explored the shores of Cape Cod for four days before they had robbed the graves of my ancestors and stolen their corn and beans. Mourt's Relation describes a searching party of sixteen men. Mourt goes on to say that this party took as much of the Indians' winter provisions as they were able to carry.

Massasoit, the great Sachem of the Wampanoag, knew these facts, yet he and his People welcomed and befriended the settlers of the Plymouth Plantation. Perhaps he did this because his Tribe had been depleted by an epidemic. Or his knowledge of the harsh oncoming winter was the reason for his peaceful acceptance of these acts. This action by Massasoit was perhaps our biggest mistake. We, the Wampanoag, welcomed you, the white man, with open arms, little knowing that it was the beginning of the end; that before 50 years were to pass, the Wampanoag would no longer be a free people.

What happened in those short 50 years? What has happened in the last 300 years? History gives us facts and there were atrocities; there were broken promises - and most of these centered around land ownership. Among ourselves we understood that there were boundaries, but never before had we had to deal with fences and stone walls. But the white man had a need to prove his worth by the amount of land that he owned. Only ten years later, when the Puritans came, they treated the Wampanoag with even less kindness in converting the souls of the so-called "savages." Although the Puritans were harsh to members of their own society, the Indian was pressed between stone slabs and hanged as quickly as any other "witch." [read entire speech]

Recent Protest

Today, the UNAINE continues leading the National Day of Mourning protest in Plymouth. The son of the founder, Mr. James, participates as well. The more recent protests have been held on Cole's Hill and a location overlooking Plymouth Rock.

The organizers have been joined by other minority activists in protest as well. Typically several hundred protesters appear. The protest general begins at 12:00 noon on Thanksgiving Day with a march through the historic district of Plymouth. All are welcome, but the UNAINE remind participants that this is a day when only the Native people speak about their history and struggles, including contemporary ones.

Speakers are by invitation only, so they enforce their own point of view. Following the march and the speeches, they have a social time.

In 1996 the Latinos for Social Change (Latinas y Latinos por el cambio Social) marched to the Plymouth Commons at the same time the Mayflower Society had their Pilgrim Progress parade, to show support of UAINE. The police rerouted the Pilgrim parade to avoid conflict. In 1997 the Pilgrim Progress parade was held earlier and went undisturbed.

In 1997 those who gathered to commemorate the 28th National Day of Mourning had a more difficult time. State troopers and police met the protesters. Some accounts state that pepper spray was used on children and the elderly. Twenty-five people were arrested on charges ranging from battery on an officer to assembling without a permit. In an effort to avoid another conflict, the state reached a settlement with UNAINE in October 1998. It stated the UNAINE were allowed to march without a permit, as long as they gave the town advanced warning.

The 35th National Day of Mourning was held on Thursday, November 25, 2004, and was dedicated to Leonard Peltier, a Native American activist convicted and sentenced to two consecutive terms of life imprisonment for first degree murder in the shooting of two FBI agents.

Greetings Brothers and Sisters:

The first thing I want to do is to say "thank you" to the organizers of this important and historical national event. I know of the struggles and sacrifices you have had to make to keep this event alive. Your sacrifice and persistence makes the world a little more aware of us, and our struggles, which continue to this day. I also want to thank those who traveled here to stand alongside us in solidarity. And lastly I want to "thank you" ALL for being the kind of human beings that care enough to take action and who are willing to make a sacrifice to ensure that justice applies to all people.

It is a great honor for me to once again be a part of a gathering such as yours. As an Indigenous person I know first hand what it means to be unwelcome on my own soil. I know first hand of the oppressors' mighty vengeance against those who would take a stand and question their laws. I fought for and protected my people from a government that wanted us dead or assimilated. My only crime is that I did dare to take a stand against what was and still is unjust.

So as you gather here today, I remind you once again to encourage each other in this continuing struggle for justice as you encourage me with your letters and your love. For without your encouragement I would not be able to go on. Your love and encouragement has kept me going through the times when I didn't want to care.

Now it's my turn to encourage you to stay strong when you feel that there is no hope or that you're too tired to continue. You must always remember those who came before us and how they struggled. Remember the teachings handed down to us from generation to generation. Remember all those who are imprisoned because they dared to stand up and challenge oppressive government policies and the continuing injustices we see today.

Despite the distance between us I am here with you today as I have been in the past. And I once again thank you for allowing me to participate in this important and historic event.

No Giving Thanks For Colonialism - by Mahtowin Munro

More than 500 people, from all the four directions, braved bitter cold to participate in the 33rd National Day of Mourning in Plymouth, Mass., on Nov. 28. The event is organized annually by United American Indians of New England (UAINE).

Native people from many nations were in attendance, as well as many non-Native supporters, providing a powerful demonstration of unity. The co-leaders of UAINE particularly acknowledged the presence of Palestinian supporters, noting that:
"Their struggle is one with our struggle."
According to Moonanum James, a Wampanaog and co-leader of UAINE,
"Our very presence frees this land from the lies of the history books, the profiteers and the mythmakers. We will honor all peoples' ancestors in struggle who went before us."
Several of the speakers honored those who had died during the past year. All spoke of the true history of the European settlement of the Americas and the importance of teaching children that truth.

After a speak-out during which many speakers called for freedom for Native political prisoner Leonard Peltier, Day of Mourning participants marched through the streets of Plymouth. During a street rally that blocked traffic on the waterfront by Plymouth Rock, Raul Ruiz (Mexica), part of the Danza Azteca group that led the march, called upon participants to
"crush the rock and all that it represents."
This annual Native American protest of the mythology surrounding the Pilgrims and "Thanksgiving" first occurred in 1970 after an attempt to suppress the truth.

Wamsutta Frank James, an Aquinnah Wampanoag man, had been invited to address a gathering sponsored by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts commemorating the 350th anniversary of the landing of the Pilgrims.

Because Wamsutta was going to talk about how the coming of the Pilgrims and other European colonialists brought about the devastation of the Wampanoag and other Native peoples in the northeastern U.S., officials of Massachusetts demanded that he follow a script that they would provide.

Wamsutta refused, and as a result Native and non-Native people gathered in Plymouth and declared U.S. "Thanksgiving Day" a National Day of Mourning. UAINE and their supporters have gathered, in good or bad weather, every year since.

Sadly, the conditions of racism and poverty in Indian Country that prevailed in 1970 continue today. For example, as Moonanum James pointed out,
"Many Native people are forced to choose every winter between heating and eating. As the economy crumbles and social programs are eliminated altogether, these conditions will only worsen."

They honored their Native ancestors and the struggles of Native peoples to survive today.

Will the Protest Ever End?

According to a speech by Moonanum James, Co-Leader of UNAINE, at the 29th National Day of Mourning, November 26, 1998:

We Live In A Matrix Of Lies

If you forget history, then you are destined to repeat the same mistakes of the past. Truth is always an ongoing struggle, and it’s my personal self-determination to resolve the truth, no matter how popular or unpopular it is. I believe that all relationships are based upon how we handle the truth, because truth is the very fabric; that if we are going to have any type of relationship, it must be woven together. It is the very glue that is going to keep us together. Truth and how we handle it is going to determine if we are going to be a brother or sister.

This nation is drilled by the news media to remember the Holocaust because it’s owned and run by Zionist Jewish interests. Most people have opted into the lies, to keep them promoted. There are things that are not popular to speak about, and if we don’t talk about these things and bring them up into the conscience minds of people where they have at least an avenue or another perspective to hear from and to begin their own independent research.

If we don’t do this, then the lie that is being told today, that was being promoted yesterday will actually go on for another 100 years, and the conditions of this world is not going to change.

The question should be,

Is America better off since the Europeans have been here?

It’s easier to teach fairy tales, it’s easier to teach lies, and it’s easier to teach myths.

The truth is that when the pilgrims’ came over here, they were dying in the groves, and it was the benevolent kindness of the Indians here in this country that helped them to survive the conditions that the Europeans were faced with in this country. The Indians were very generous and kind people.

They were raped, robbed, and murdered by the Pilgrims, and after that, they turned around and thanked God for giving them this land. When they say in God we Trust, you must look at the principals…and then, you ask yourself; what God they are talking about.

Don’t defend the lie anymore.

UC Davis Students Demand Resignation of Chancellor Katehi

David Buscho was sitting peacefully on a sidewalk, linking arms with other students in protest at the University of California at Davis. The disturbing video shows a campus police officer in riot gear calmly walk up to the students on the ground and attack them with pepper spray at point-blank range.

Occupy protests at other campuses have gone on peacefully, but UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi allowed her campus police to ruthlessly attack students who were sitting silently on the sidewalk.

UC Davis professor Nathan Brown gave a chilling account of what happened to David and other students:

"When students covered their eyes with their clothing, police forced open their mouths and pepper-sprayed down their throats," "Several of these students were hospitalized."

Now David is leading a campaign on Change.org demanding that Chancellor Katehi resign from the school for allowing her students to be attacked by campus police during a peaceful protest.

Nathan Brown's Open Letter To The Chancellor is below:

I am a junior faculty member at UC Davis. I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of English, and I teach in the Program in Critical Theory and in Science & Technology Studies. I have a strong record of research, teaching, and service. I am currently a Board Member of the Davis Faculty Association. I have also taken an active role in supporting the student movement to defend public education on our campus and throughout the UC system. In a word: I am the sort of young faculty member, like many of my colleagues, this campus needs. I am an asset to the University of California at Davis.

You are not.

I write to you and to my colleagues for three reasons:

1) to express my outrage at the police brutality which occurred against students engaged in peaceful protest on the UC Davis campus today

2) to hold you accountable for this police brutality

3) to demand your immediate resignation
Today you ordered police onto our campus to clear student protesters from the quad. These were protesters who participated in a rally speaking out against tuition increases and police brutality on UC campuses on Tuesday—a rally that I organized, and which was endorsed by the Davis Faculty Association. These students attended that rally in response to a call for solidarity from students and faculty who were bludgeoned with batons, hospitalized, and arrested at UC Berkeley last week. In the highest tradition of non-violent civil disobedience, those protesters had linked arms and held their ground in defense of tents they set up beside Sproul Hall. In a gesture of solidarity with those students and faculty, and in solidarity with the national Occupy movement, students at UC Davis set up tents on the main quad. When you ordered police outfitted with riot helmets, brandishing batons and teargas guns to remove their tents today, those students sat down on the ground in a circle and linked arms to protect them.

What happened next?

Without any provocation whatsoever, other than the bodies of these students sitting where they were on the ground, with their arms linked, police pepper-sprayed students. Students remained on the ground, now writhing in pain, with their arms linked.

What happened next?

Police used batons to try to push the students apart. Those they could separate, they arrested, kneeling on their bodies and pushing their heads into the ground. Those they could not separate, they pepper-sprayed directly in the face, holding these students as they did so. When students covered their eyes with their clothing, police forced open their mouths and pepper-sprayed down their throats. Several of these students were hospitalized. Others are seriously injured. One of them, forty-five minutes after being pepper-sprayed down his throat, was still coughing up blood.

This is what happened. You are responsible for it.

You are responsible for it because this is what happens when UC Chancellors order police onto our campuses to disperse peaceful protesters through the use of force: students get hurt. Faculty get hurt. One of the most inspiring things (inspiring for those of us who care about students who assert their rights to free speech and peaceful assembly) about the demonstration in Berkeley on November 9 is that UC Berkeley faculty stood together with students, their arms linked together. Associate Professor of English Celeste Langan was grabbed by her hair, thrown on the ground, and arrested. Associate Professor Geoffrey O’Brien was injured by baton blows. Professor Robert Hass, former Poet Laureate of the United States, National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize winner, was also struck with a baton. These faculty stood together with students in solidarity, and they too were beaten and arrested by the police. In writing this letter, I stand together with those faculty and with the students they supported.

One week after this happened at UC Berkeley, you ordered police to clear tents from the quad at UC Davis. When students responded in the same way—linking arms and holding their ground—police also responded in the same way: with violent force. The fact is: the administration of UC campuses systematically uses police brutality to terrorize students and faculty, to crush political dissent on our campuses, and to suppress free speech and peaceful assembly. Many people know this. Many more people are learning it very quickly.

You are responsible for the police violence directed against students on the UC Davis quad on November 18, 2011. As I said, I am writing to hold you responsible and to demand your immediate resignation on these grounds.

On Wednesday November 16, you issued a letter by email to the campus community. In this letter, you discussed a hate crime which occurred at UC Davis on Sunday November 13. In this letter, you express concern about the safety of our students. You write, “it is particularly disturbing that such an act of intolerance should occur at a time when the campus community is working to create a safe and inviting space for all our students.”

You write, “while these are turbulent economic times, as a campus community, we must all be committed to a safe, welcoming environment that advances our efforts to diversity and excellence at UC Davis.”

I will leave it to my colleagues and every reader of this letter to decide what poses a greater threat to “a safe and inviting space for all our students” or “a safe, welcoming environment” at UC Davis:

1) Setting up tents on the quad in solidarity with faculty and students brutalized by police at UC Berkeley?
Is this what you have in mind when you express commitment to “a safe, welcoming environment?”
2) Sending in riot police to disperse students with batons, pepper-spray, and tear-gas guns, while those students sit peacefully on the ground with their arms linked? Is this what you have in mind when you refer to creating “a safe and inviting space?”

I am writing to tell you in no uncertain terms that there must be space for protest on our campus. There must be space for political dissent on our campus. There must be space for civil disobedience on our campus. There must be space for students to assert their right to decide on the form of their protest, their dissent, and their civil disobedience—including the simple act of setting up tents in solidarity with other students who have done so. There must be space for protest and dissent, especially, when the object of protest and dissent is police brutality itself. You may not order police to forcefully disperse student protesters peacefully protesting police brutality. You may not do so. It is not an option available to you as the Chancellor of a UC campus. That is why I am calling for your immediate resignation.

Your words express concern for the safety of our students. Your actions express no concern whatsoever for the safety of our students. I deduce from this discrepancy that you are not, in fact, concerned about the safety of our students. Your actions directly threaten the safety of our students. And I want you to know that this is clear. It is clear to anyone who reads your campus emails concerning our “Principles of Community” and who also takes the time to inform themselves about your actions. You should bear in mind that when you send emails to the UC Davis community, you address a body of faculty and students who are well trained to see through rhetoric that evinces care for students while implicitly threatening them. I see through your rhetoric very clearly. You also write to a campus community that knows how to speak truth to power. That is what I am doing.

I call for your resignation because you are unfit to do your job. You are unfit to ensure the safety of students at UC Davis. In fact: you are the primary threat to the safety of students at UC Davis. As such, I call upon you to resign immediately.

A new Mercy For Animals undercover investigation into a McDonald's egg supplier, Sparboe Egg Farms, exposes the fast-food giant's secret ingredient: shocking cruelty to animals.

Hidden-camera footage taken at Sparboe facilities in Iowa, Minnesota and Colorado reveals:

Hens crammed into filthy wire cages with less space for each bird than a standard-sized sheet of paper to live her entire miserable life, unable to fully stretch her wings or engage in most other natural behaviors

Workers burning off the beaks of young chicks without any painkillers and callously throwing them into cages, some missing the cage doors and hitting the floor Workers grabbing hens by their throats and ramming them into battery cages.

Rotted hens, decomposed beyond recognition as birds, left in cages with hens still laying eggs for human consumption.

A worker tormenting a bird by swinging her around in the air while her legs were caught in a grabbing device - violence described as "torture" by another worker.

A worker shoving a bird into the pocket of another employee without any regard for the animal's fear and suffering.

Chicks trapped and mangled in cage wire - others suffering from open wounds and torn beaks

Live chicks thrown into plastic bags to be suffocated.

Common sense tells us that animals should be given at a minimum the freedom to walk, stretch their limbs, turn around and engage in natural behaviors. Yet, this McDonald's supplier deprives hens of even these most basic freedoms. After viewing the undercover footage, Dr. Sara Shields, research scientist, poultry specialist and consultant in animal welfare, condemned battery-cage egg production:

Battery cage operations are inherently cruel. The barren, restrictive environment offers no hope for an acceptable quality of life, and such severely overcrowded confinement would be unthinkable for any other farmed species. World-wide, there is increasing recognition that battery cages are simply not appropriate housing.

In fact, barren battery cages are so cruel that the entire European Union and the states of California and Michigan have banned their use. Additionally, leading food retailers, such as Whole Foods, Hellmann's, Wolfgang Puck and Subway, and hundreds of colleges and universities refuse to use or sell eggs from hens subjected to the inherent abuses of battery cages.

MFA is calling on McDonald's Corporation to end its use of eggs from hens confined in battery cages in the United States, as it has already in the European Union. As Dr. Shields states,

"Animals are designed to move, are biologically prepared for regular movement, and will suffer physical consequences if they are not given the freedom to exercise."

Sadly, not a single federal law currently provides any protection to birds at the hatchery, on the factory farm, or during slaughter. Further, most states - including those in which this investigation was conducted - have sweeping exemptions for farmed animals, which allow for abuses to run rampant without prosecution.

As the largest egg purchaser in the United States, McDonald's has enormous power in effecting improved standards of care for egg-laying hens. Accordingly, MFA is also asking that McDonald's actively support a recent agreement between the United Egg Producers and The Humane Society of the United States that seeks to establish federal regulations that would provide hens enough space to turn around, as well as environmental enrichments, such as perches and nesting boxes. The agreement is a modest but important first step in establishing minimal standards for care of birds on a federal level. Sadly, Sparboe Egg Farms is aggressively opposing the implementation of even these meager reforms to reduce animal suffering.

While McDonald's has the moral obligation and purchasing power to lessen the cruelty suffered by the millions of hens who are abused and exploited to produce eggs for its restaurants, consumers also hold enormous power of their own in preventing animal abuse by adopting a compassionate diet.

I have not eaten at McDonald's in over 15 years and probably longer because of the quality of the food they prepare.

I have also stopped eating chicken and eggs, unless I can get guaranteed free range, humane treated, and organic feed, and the ground they roam on must be certified organic, then perhaps I would consider it. I'm certainly not a vegan by any means. I just want to make sure that I know where the food comes from, and how it was treated before I put it into my body.

Latest News: Target Follows McDonald's Lead, Drops Egg Supplier Sparboe Farms After Shocking Undercover Video

McDonald's and Target dropped one of the nation's largest egg suppliers after an animal rights group released an undercover video of the egg producer's farms in three states.

McDonald's Corp. said Friday it had dropped Sparboe Farms as a supplier after a video by the group Mercy for Animals showed cases of animal cruelty at five facilities in Iowa, Minnesota and Colorado. Target Corp. soon followed, saying it would pull eggs from the Litchfield, Minn.-based company off its shelves.

"Having been made aware of the unacceptable conditions in the company's egg laying facilities, effective immediately, Target will discontinue its business relationship with Sparboe Farms," Minneapolis-based Target said in a statement late Friday.

Sparboe produces 300 million eggs a year, in regular, liquid, frozen and dried form, and ships them to restaurants and stores across the country. The company's Vincent, Iowa, plant had billed itself as the sole fresh egg supplier to every McDonald's west of the Mississippi River.

McDonald's officials say Sparboe was a "significant" supplier and that it was unclear when, or if, the company would work with the Golden Arches again. Sparboe's Iowa facility produced 2 million eggs a day, seven days a week.

That changed Friday when images shot by Mercy for Animals showed a worker swinging a bird around by its feet, hens packed into cramped cages, male chicks being tossed into plastic bags to suffocate and workers cutting off the tips of chicks' beaks.

"The behavior on tape is disturbing and completely unacceptable. McDonald's wants to assure our customers that we demand humane treatment of animals by our suppliers," Bob Langert, McDonald's vice president for sustainability, said in a statement.

We’ve all heard the old adage ‘you are what you eat’, but have you ever stopped to think exactly how true that is? Put simply, healthy eating is the key to wellbeing. We all have up to 100 trillion cells in our bodies, each one demanding a constant supply of daily nutrients in order to function optimally. Food affects all of these cells, and by extension, every aspect of our being: mood, energy levels, food cravings, thinking capacity, sex drive, sleeping habits and general health.

If you feed your body junk and convenience foods it’ll simply lay down fat, lower your energy, even your brain power.

Everyone is recognized as a teacher; therefore, we are students and teachers to each other.

2. Health is inner peace, healing is letting go of fear.

3. Giving and receiving are the same.

Ah POOK Is Here - 2012

With its wheels-within-wheels configuration, the Maya calendar was a uniquely sophisticated and remarkably accurate system of measuring time. It perfectly demonstrated the concept of prescience - and by extension the idea of a pre-existing script. It ‘traveled’ back four million years into the past, and in the future, predicted the precise year when Hernan Cortes would arrive in the Americas. An event that would initiate the final stage of Maya destruction. It also predicted much further in the future, a moment of consequence that has now become imminent.

Unlike our Western calendar with its three-part, year, month and day demarcations, the Maya calendar had five. It’s referred to as the Long Count. First known use of this system occurs around the 8th Ka’tun or 7:00:00:00:01 – 8:00:00:00:00 which originates from a start date of all zeroes equivalent to 3114 BC. The first number in the series, representing a 400 year cycle, changes according to the interacting cycles of the other four. When all four zero out, the first number is raised one. If the system is continued to the present day we arrive at 13:19:19:17:19 on December 20th 2012. The following day - the winter solstice of December 21st - the numbers will roll forward to the 14th Ka’tun: 14:00:00:00:00 Solstice is the null point of transition at the darkest time of the year.

Many Bible advocates however interpret this time differently. World events, particularly in the Middle East, are viewed as a clear indication that the fire and brimstone, hell on earth days of Revelation are finally upon us. The added feature of an astronomical event coinciding with this date confirms the fact. Also on 21st of December 2102 they tell us, the sun will intersect the ‘vertical’ Cygnus Rift of the Milky Way and the ‘horizontal’ band of the ecliptic. In the center of a cross that is. A distinctsign from ‘heaven’ that the end is nigh. The time has come when it will be determined once and for all, in the bloodiest, most horrific of ways, which Bible group has the most important imaginary friend.

Given that Ah Pook is Here was an apocalyptic novel in which these two worldviews played off against one another to an ultimate conclusion, Ah Pook the destroyer is in a very real sense here now.

Whether this will be the outcome or not the fact that Mayan and Biblical cosmogonies are aligned in this way makes his presence indisputable. For Armageddon buffs, 2012 is the mother of all nighs. Websites, books, movies and documentaries are already cashing in on what must surely, finally, be the actual end of the world show. Appropriately, Bill’s alien expert pal, novelist Whitley Strieber is right up front leading the charge.

In the cover notes of his book 2012: The War for Souls he summarizes the event:

“Every 26,00 years, Earth aligns with the exact center of our galaxy. At 11:11 am on December 21, 2012 , this event happens again, and the ancient Maya calculated that it would mark the end, not only of this age but of human consciousness as we know it.”

A somewhat cavalier embellishment of the astronomical facts which now introduces the further detail of the precise time of day. That would be American time of course, although which of the four zones it refers to is not specified. The overall impression is that of looking down a gun sight, but one wonders with what frame of reference he is able to arrive at the “exact” center of the galaxy.

In his usual messianic style, Strieber inserts himself into the plot as a writer who suffers the mortifications of the flesh in order to bring redemption to the world. Over the course of 300 pages he confirms that God fearing Americans are the only viable culture on the planet, that they alone are capable of confronting ‘alien’ intelligence and that they will do so the way they have always done: with brute force. Above all, with quote after quote to substantiate his claims, he establishes that the Bible has been telling the truth all along. Moving on from the little gray commuter gnomes wearing cardboard suits in Communion, Strieber’s current batch of other worldy meanies are reptilian; proving that the Biblical snakes, leviathans and ragons were real, have always been at war with mankind, and finally now have a chance of winning.

These creatures embody all the cliché characteristics of comic book evildoers and evoke nothing mysterious, otherworldly, or even remotely alien. They resort to such mundane exchanges as “Shut up bitch” and “How

dare you!” and when under stress: “...DO IT NOW GODDAMN YOU!” In comic book world this is fine. When Biblical scripture is used to legitimize the context however it’s an insidious form of religious indoctrination.

Particularly when it’s reinforced with specious ‘scientific’ data.

Astronomy scholars contend that the alignment in question already occurred in its maximum configuration in 1997 and that the sun will continue to make the same transit for the following fifteen years. It will resume an even more ideal position in 2030. The sun however can never align perfectly in this way, because its path through the heavens, as seen from the Earth, lies more than 5º above the so called 'Galactic Center.'

Maya scholars contend that there are no references to “changes in human consciousness” in the completion of the 13th Katun in any existing Maya texts; either on stellae, murals, or in codices. Neither is there anything to suggest that a specific astronomical event occurred at the beginning of the Long Count nor that one will occur in 2012. The fact that Chinese history records a lineage of Kings going back 23,000 years prior to 3114 BC suggests that human consciousness did not suffer a particularly noticeable shift at that time.

The relentless barrage of disaster movies and books expresses an impending sense of doom that is indeed based on sound evidence. In the ast however, cataclysms elsewhere on the planet were often remote and

went unnoticed except by those immediately involved. Nowadays, instant worldwide communication, the need for news and its need to keep a consumer population permanently in a state of panic results in a continuous diet of disaster and planetary mayhem. Fictionalized versions of these calamities serve both to reinforce and to relieve anxieties by vicariously confronting them, defeating them and then returning to ‘normal’. A lulling Control routine oscillating between Def Cons 1 and 2 The battle against evil cannot be won, simply because the concept of good relies entirely on bad in order to exist. Everything that exists is defined by virtue of that which it is not. In order for bad to be banished from the world, good would have to go with it. The only way such an idea can be removed from human experience is by removing humans altogether. By truly “ending human consciousness as we know it.” Given the appalling insoluble insanity that prevails this is not such a bad idea.

Having human sensibility mutate into a novel form of parrot say, or an elegant flying squid hardly seems like a vision of Hell. Certainly not punishment. It’s only religious indoctrination that suggests that all other life on earth is somehow inferior. The human ideals of care, altruism, and sincerity are all clearly evidenced in the rest of nature. Duplicity, insanity and the need to control on the other hand are not. The added disappointment of Ah Pook’s conclusion to me was that Bill in his textonly version reneged on that idea. The parrot it turned out was a ‘tree house’ parrot with a steering wheel up its ass.

November 11 2011 is believed to be important from the numerological point of view and there is stuff floating around the net about crop circles, ascension and the Book of Revelations. There is even a Hollywood movie coming out on that day called 11:11:11. I checked out the astrology for this date and it’s actually rather impressive so I thought it was worth writing about. It will be interesting to see if others think there is some special significance to this date and if that can be linked to the planetary aspects and fixed star influences.

The most significant aspect I believe is Mars opposite Neptune and Chiron. This only occurs about every 160 years but this time it is extra special because Mars is conjunct the Royal fixed star Regulus, which incidentally is entering the sign of Virgo about now. You can see in the chart below that Chiron is also exactly stationary on this day. Mars opposite Neptune and Chiron sounds painful, wounding in a spiritual sense.

Regulus is a potent military star and is Mars-like in nature, associated with violence, people with important roles, downfall and even assassinations, especially with Mars. The planets associated with assassination are Mars, Uranus and Neptune, and they are all in aspect to each other in this chart. The nation of Israel has Mars on Regulus, so does Benjamin Netanyahu, David Cameron and the late Diana Princess of Wales.

Two more extremely powerful stars are activated by Saturn, which lays between Arcturus and Spica, said to be the two most fortunate stars in the sky. There is a belief that Spica marks the beginning and the end of the zodiac, as represented by the Sphinx at Giza. The head of Virgo and the body of Leo. In Christian astrology, the story of the stars begins with Spica. Edgar Cayce viewed Arcturus as “that which may be called the center of this universe, through which individuals pass and at which period there comes the choice of the individual as to whether it is to return to complete there“.

Another of the Royal stars is also activated by the Mercury Venus conjunction on Antares, the Heart of the Scorpion. Itself a military star and associated with a “violent character and is credited with being significant for a violent death“. I had a bit of fun and set this chart for 11:11 am Universal Time (London). Hi Ho we get the Moon on the fixed star Algol, the Demon Star associated with violence and decapitation. There is a religious/spiritual theme which comes from Chiron with Neptune, as Neptune rules spirituality and Chiron is the healer/teacher. I think if I were a spiritual or religious leader, or any sort of leader I’d be ducking for cover on this day. [source]

“We are entering the Age of Aquarius on November 11, 2011. It will be a new time. The entire psyche is changing. You must purify the mind, body and soul to be real, innocent, and sattvic (pure). Elevate yourself to be angelic. This age which you will serve is an age of awareness and experience.” He also said, “I did not come here to create students, but teachers.”

The number 11 in both singular and duplicated form has great importance for 2012 related astrology, prophecy, numerology and history. Lets just start by making everyone aware that if we take the Mayan symbol for 11 and then duplicate it, flip its duplicate, shift them both ninety degrees, we have the image of 11:11.

One numerological interpretation is that it marks the beginning of new cycles, increased spiritual leanings and compassion. It is considered as one of the master numbers, those few that are not reduced by the addition of the constituent numbers.

This number and specifically the time 11:11 being so linked to the December 2012 event has stunned many of those experiencing these temporal synchronicity events. I have myself experienced many 11:11 temporal synchronicity events.

An important element of the 21-12-2012 subject is the contemplation of Solar dynamics and Solar behavior. There is no doubt that the Sun’s erratic behavior has massive effects on Earth’s biosphere. We sometimes forget that we do not merely orbit the sun but rather reside deep within its magnetosphere, the invisible part of the sun that extends out as a spherical bubble enclosing the inner planets.

Many experts have contended that changes in atmospheric ion count for example can effect human and animal behavior, as well as our bio-clocks. Thus influencing biological, physiological and behavioral patterns of all living things. Certainly we know that some frequencies of radiation from the sun can effect cell division or brain functions. Excess or lack of certain frequencies and types of solar radiation have been observed to give radical effects on human beings under laboratory conditions.

The reason why the Sun becomes important in the 11:11 subject is not simply the solstice point in our calendar. It also happens to be that the sun’s magnetic field operates a cycle of polarity reversals averaging 11.11 years in length. The next peak of this cycle happens to be in the year 2012 and has been predicted by some astrophysicists to likely be a very active maximum. Some posit possibly the most active since the end of the last ice-age.

There are also important 11 year cycles in human population growth in respect of birth rates.

Even more incredible is the finding that the entire mass of the black hole central to our galaxy spins once every 11 minutes.

Nikola Tesla, the unsung hero of science who gave us such wonders as alternating current (imagine not having that!), was very interested in the Sun. Although a hard scientist he was also rather superstitious about numbers, and held the perhaps strange belief that the Sun and the Earth were dynamic living organisms. A belief held by many indigenous peoples of the America’s.

Is the Sun, our temporal governor, speaking to us through the very devices that display its movement through the divisions of the day. Could this really be like the elephant in the living room that nobody wants to see. The sun having an 11.11 year cycle, the winter solstice of 2012 falling at 11:11 and people all over the world finding themselves bombarded with 11’s just as science is predicting some kind of majestic solar event at the peak of this current cycle seems more than coincidence.

One rather dire possible event is the Earth being hit by a massive Solar event such as the November 2003 monster X-ray flare that erupted from the Sun. This was the most powerful solar flare ever recorded at X-28. It blinded the NOAA GOES satellite for 11 minutes.

There is even a cosmic 11-11 mystery. Two comets called 34D/Gale and Boethin, have mysteriously vanished. Both of these were 11 year period objects!

Interestingly 11’s have played important roles in recent history. The 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day is the official moment of remembrance for the lives lost during, and cessation of, the terrible fighting in Europe during WWI. Two minutes of silence are observed, a pair of 1's yet again.

More recently we have the initiation of a war on September 11-01, which may yet be remembered as the start of WWIII. It also transpires that 111 in numerology is a ‘power number’ related to fresh modes of thinking applied to new cycles in life‘s play.

It is of additional note that not only did we have the start of the war-on-terror on the 11th September, but that it was heralded by the destruction of the two great world trade centre buildings appearing to stand above the New York skyline in the form of an enormous 11. The 1st plane that impacted was flight 11 with 11 crew on board.

Its also interesting to note that the very numbers of the solstice date 21 12 2012 combined give us the number 11 once again. Almost like a fail safe, just in case we were too dumb to notice all the other 11 related patterns!

In terms of the much vaunted ‘New Age’ and the coming of the era of Aquarius it is notable that the water bearer is the 11th sign of the zodiac cycle.

Another notable date is of course 11-11-11 which may well present some interesting surprise for our planet. I have noted that on previous dates such as 10-10-10, 09-09-09 etc. important events have happened. Perhaps the most powerful lesson inherent in the number 11, is that there is one, and next to it there is one. I am another yourself, and you are another myself. Each is one. All are one.
